A gift is all about the experience in which is was given. If SE started of by saying that they wanted to include a new mount as a gift (which they did in the live letter), and made you do a lot of hoop jumping or placed a GC fee in order to receive it, then it isn't a gift.

You're lucky it just didn't pop up in your inventory for signing in. The fact that you don't have to go through a lot of hoop jumping, and they add in a bit of lore when they could have very well not done anything, validates you and the gift. They are just simply showing that you matter as a customer and giving you something fun with easy access. What more do you want from that? Honestly.

Any other content... I'd complain with you, but not when it was already stated to be a gift. You obviously don't know how to receive one.

Edit: Also, one more thing to add. How do you want challenging content to go along with a mount that is gained at Lv30? The only way to make this challenging is to make it into a big old fetch quest which would probably get you raging as much as you are about the subject currently you think is so gosh darn important. There is no winning. lol
