MMO advertisement in general isn't that big yet, but we've seen WoW commericals and we've seen Rift commericals. You could argue those companies have the money to push out commercials, but marketing in any form is just smart. SE relies on "word of mouth" marketing, its not the 1930s anymore, a few advertisements for your game in other markets than japan could only increase the amount of people who want to play the game.

Relying on word of mouth hurts the game population in certain areas , like the U.S. where you frequent a site and the comments towards xiv are always negative. A commerical doesn't have a troll popping out saying "THIS GAME SUCKS DONT PLAY IT."

I just believe XIV will never get the population anyone wants or the success if SE doesn't advertise. I've seen a live action role play XIV commercial for Japan, that is awesome sort of like our live action commericials for MW Skyrim, showing maybe we'd like a commercial like that. Or a commercial which uses some of the promos from our primal fights and other content.

Marketing, marketing, marketing. More internet ads, the internet ads around release of XIV were the guy from the cinematic trailer with a blue background....lame!. I know this game just started charging, but once you have the time and a little money together it'd be nice if you advertised the game, I've see crappy f2ps with way more advertising, and it kinda makes me sad, because this game has so much more potential, and is just better already. We've come a long way from the start, lets stop being so embarrassed and advertise.( well at 2.0, not now, now is a waste. at 2.0 it should be good enough, maybe Yoshi-P will advertise and already knows this though, maybe it was just old team old thinking style)
