Curious question: whats the worst DPS job In your opionion

Some say I plays the "worst" jobs, I usually don't dwell on the topic for long but then it got me curious who thinks the same? I haven't played all the DPS jobs so I can't gather a opinion on this! By bad DPS job i mean anything for either bad team synergy, awkward rotation or awful
Dps. what makes it bad to you

Archer bard and machinist, i find this class and jobs weird, it feels like you are just randomly and blindly shooting to nowhere

Samurai at the moment, they don't bring any special utility and are out dpsed by other jobs.

In a sense of clunky design, I'd say Black Mage. It's easy to mess up despite the rotation only technically being a step up from ARR (but the difficulty has to do with timers than rotation difficulty)

In terms of not being fun to play, Bard... ARR/HW. I may have more fun with the stance dance system, though.

In terms of damage and overall usefulness? Red Mage. Because as much as Black Mage and Samurai say they're outdps'd by other jobs and don't bring utility, only Red Mage can say it brings what seems like decent damage and utility and be considered terrible.

Of the claseses I've played to 70 so far, probably MCH. Its utility is good, but the RNG nature of their base combo is annoying, Hot Shot at this stage is just 'why?', heat build-up pre-Barrel Stabilizer (lv66) is horrid, and having to align everything around Wildfire makes what should be (and otherwise generally is) a fairly dynamic class far too rigid.

A second would be BLM; it's playable, and AoE is fun... but if I didn't love the whole black mage architype so much it's just not worth putting up with all the hassles (long cast times, short timers, buttons for the sake of buttons, etc.) for 'passable' DPS, zero utility (in group), and zero survivability (while solo).

I would call two dps jobs which are the easiest to have almost 100% uptime bad.

As for me, for a very long time I thought MNK was bad and DRG was weird. But after I've got into raiding and all this things about "optimizing", I could see, from the people who main it (a mnk form my old static and the drg on my new one) I saw how both jobs are actually enjoyable.

I think the problem is... Some jobs you have to actually do some research and test to see how it really plays, and so you found out its actually really fun, and also can help you with your own main, depending if you care or not about performing well.

weird/clunky feeling for me is MCH, not just gun sound feel wrong, some of the skill feel weird to me, with all these drone, heat, proc problem and then you got flamethrower that for some reason is close range where your class is range, mean while brd got awesome lvl 70 arrow skill.

I main Bard and I'm of the opinion that MCH feels like it got the short end of the stick this expansion. When cast bars were removed, Bard got completely overhauled. Machinist in comparison is basically... Still Machinist without the cast bars and all of the questionable combat design.

    - Hot Shot. There's nothing interesting about it. Bard Straight Shot lets Bard manipulate the RNG in their favor for their oGCD procs, and Straighter Shot gives them the chance to use Refulgent Arrow or a guaranteed crit Straight Shot. Hot Shot is just... There.
    - Weaponskill combos based on RNG. Why is this still a thing? It and the bullet system made more sense when the cast bars existed. With the cast bars gone, this feels like nothing more than a relic of the past that just makes openers/burst windows way more complicated than they should be.
    - Wildfire. Just... Wildfire. It encourages cramming everything you can in that super tight 10 second window, on top of having to juggle the heat gauge AND ammunition system! This essentially locks accessibility down to whether or not you have good latency if you want to take full advantage of it. And outside of Wildfire windows, you're basically just playing a slower Bard in Army's Paeon mode that has to wrestle with RNG in their GCDs.

Machinist has the most convoluted combat mechanics out of all the jobs, and it's no wonder barely anyone mains the job as a result. There's no real coherent sense of flow. To most players, it's either burst windows or nothing. It's the most unforgiving job in the game for all the wrong reasons.

I would imagine actual MCH mains would say otherwise, in which I'm interested to hear from them.

MCH can be considered as a bad dps but that is not for its damage or utility but because of its nature. MCH is crippled by high ping and the RNG of the main rotation can discourage ppl from liking the job. Not to mention that everything is based on wildfire.
BLM is the second choice that is because of the tight timers and the 0 utility and raid buffs.
Nonetheless both of these jobs are fun to play.
