I've been seeing some BLMs with enough raw DPS that even a NIN would scarcely have outcontributed them. I suspect we haven't seen the full extent of personal parse padders' performance on BLM yet. Though SMN's burst may better align with TA windows just as it can with extreme SkS SAM, it's looking like BLM can outperform either in the long run, especially if for whatever reason no equally high percentile NIN can attend.
Personally I look forward to seeing MNK-DRG-MCH-BRD in any fight where some of the TA timings would have ended up during heavy enough raid damage that healers wouldn't be able to maximize it with their DPS. The individual DPS gap might then be just be enough to dethrone NIN, despite providing only (just under) half the indirect rDPS. Guess we'll see at i370.
Saying that NIN will be dethroned by MNK is fantasy sadly for you. TA put appart, the aggro management (specially now that tanks seem to forget they got a tank stance and/or don't want to tank altogether) is pretty valuable in a party. Not only to pass out aggro, but to decrease it for one party member as well.Personally I look forward to seeing MNK-DRG-MCH-BRD in any fight where some of the TA timings would have ended up during heavy enough raid damage that healers wouldn't be able to maximize it with their DPS. In a party with a ninja (meaning not PUGS) generally the TA timing is discuss between members to maximise it's use, so unless you play nin only in pugs the off timing of TA technically will not happen.
