Can't get past "Now loading" screen

I have been playing fine for several days before my game randomly stopped working (not responding after launching). I uninstalled the game and painstrickingly waited for it to update from scratch, since it took over 3 days with an good internet connection (only FFXIV went slowly).

Now I finally was able to launch the game again, but after the character selection screen, I get stuck in the "Now Loading" one and nothing happens.
