    pre-realm reborn player woes

    hi there.

so i played ffxiv at its first release. it was horrifying. every tree harvested required a mini-game. now i've decided to check out a realm reborn... crafting is a bit more fun, but still tedious as hell. each crafting profession requires stuff from EVERY other crafting profession. why on earth wouldn't you just give me access to everything and let me level them all up at once instead of micromanaging which crafting profession can make this or that and teleporting all over the world every day? this was a band aid, sure, but for goodness' sakes folks, its painful.

Never played the original FF14, only started with ARR’s PS3 beta. So, I lack your perspective on how the game compares with the original failure.

Personally though, I’m really liking this game.

It's not a band aid. It was designed this way for good reasons of balancing the need for every class on the market.

A Realm Reborn crafting was actually famous for being the best among all MMOs at its time in 2014-15. It was because of how deep the rabbit hole can go. Back in the old days, if you wanted to excel in endgame crafting, you need to achieve all-50 status, a.k.a. with the title "Builder of the Realm", and that's just the true beginning of the fun. Every time you made a class to 50, you earn a very powerful skill. And the real endgame requires you to mix and match all the different level 50 skills in order to figure out some combos to tackle the really difficult endgame recipes. It was for this reason that A Realm Reborn crafting was uniquely fun.

For more details about A Realm Reborn crafting, please visit my old crafting guide, which will give you a really good idea where things will go:

As to the old A Realm Reborn endgame crafting, here's a picture to show you what it used to be like (now it's outdated):

The whole point of showing you this, is to demonstrate that being a "Builder of the Realm" is at the very top of this picture... It's the true beginning...

You're not going to find much support for your complain. The crafting system is mostly well-liked among the community.

    .

I don't understand how these complaints go together. You don't want it to require things from other professions but somehow you want to be able to level them all up at once.
First of all pretty much everyone does level theirs all up at once, so there's nothing preventing you from doing it.
Second, requiring things from other profession is one of the various incentives to level them all up.
Third, join an FC that is crafting friendly. Not only might they have materials stored up to give you, but FCs also have vendor NPCs with many of the beginner materials to just straight-up buy for a cheap rate, reducing the amount of teleporting.

Once you reach level 41 Main Scenario Quests you can unlock beast tribes sidequests and one of them is Ixal. This beast tribe will provide you daily quests that give a TON of experience and they provide the mats for you.

Also unlock the challenge log to get extra experience from your crafts, and do your Grand Company supply missions. Leves are also good experience for few crafts.

As someone who started crafting in 1.x, indeed I started as ALC, I liked ARR crafting MUCH better.
