The "Be My Valentione!" Creative Writing Contest (NA)

Love is in the air... and in the aether! In the spirit of Valentione's Day, the Community Team would like to challenge you to share the secrets of your heart by writing your favorite NPC a love letter. Whether your love is a riveting romance or purely platonic, put your skills as a wordsmith to the test and express your affections, Warriors of Light!

Theme:
Celebrate the Valentione’s Day seasonal event and share the love by revealing the truths of your heart!

How to Enter:
Write a love letter to your favorite NPC from the perspective of your player character.

Be sure to include the following information in your submission:

• Your creative writing entry in letter format, no shorter than 100 words and a maximum of 300 words.
• Your character’s name and World.
• Your selection from the available in-game prizes.

You may include up to one (1) screenshot to supplement your letter, but this is not a requirement to enter. Should you choose to upload a screenshot, please review and follow this guide to uploading images to the Lodestone.

You must abide by the following rules and guidelines when creating and submitting your entry:

• One entry per person. If multiple entries containing the same character are posted, only the first entry will be accepted.
• Entries cannot be edited after submission.
• Entries must be your own written work. Any plagiarized content will be disqualified.
• You must read, agree to, and comply with the Official Rules below.

Winner Selection:
The FINAL FANTASY XIV Community Team will select 30 winners based on creativity, humor, originality, and overall execution according to the criteria listed above.

Prizes:
The 30 winners will each receive one in-game item of his/her choice from the items below:

• Scarf of Wondrous Wit
• Ahriman Choker
• Mandragora Choker
• Bluebird Earring
• Noble Barding

*In-game prizes are transferable only to characters under the same service account as the player who entered the contest.

Entry Period:
February 5, 2018 at 12:01 a.m. (Pacific Time) to February 16 at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific Time)

Eligibility:
You must be a legal resident of the fifty (50) states of the United States of America, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or Canada (excluding Quebec), have a valid North American Square Enix Account, and be over the age of 13 to enter.

KEY RULES

A. Official Rules: The Official Rules for this Promotion consist of both (i) these key rules summarizing the important rules for participating in the Promotion (the “Key Rules”) and (ii) the Additional Promotion Official Rules (“Additional Rules”) applicable to your place of legal residence. B. Territories: This Promotion is open only to individuals who are legal residents and physically located in one (1) of the following countries/territories at the date and time of entry (the “Promotion Jurisdiction”):

• The fifty (50) states of the United States of America, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
• Canada, excluding Quebec.

C. Age Limit: This Promotion is open only to individuals 13 years of age or older at the date and time of entry.

D. Entry Period: You may enter the Promotion only between February 5, 2018 at 12:01 a.m. (Pacific Time) and February 16, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) (the “Entry Period”).

E. Entry Procedure and Limitations: In order to enter the Promotion, you must complete the following steps during the Entry Period:

Step One:

• Write an original piece of written prose in the format of a love letter (“Letter”) to your favorite NPC in FINAL FANTASY XIV, from the perspective of your in-game character.
• The Letter, in its entirety, must be at least 100 words long.
• The Letter, in its entirety, may not surpass 300 words.
• The Letter must be original work, written by the Entrant.

Step Two:

• Submit the Letter by posting in the OFFICIAL ENTRY THREAD on the FINAL FANTASY XIV Official Forums and include the following information on your forum post:
  • The Letter
  • A supplementary screenshot from FINAL FANTASY XIV, if you wish. A screenshot is not required to enter.
  • The character name and World of the Entrant
  • Your selection from the available prizes:
    1. Scarf of Wondrous Wit
    2. Ahriman Choker
    3. Mandragora Choker
    4. Bluebird Earring
    5. Noble Barding

• You must not include any additional personal information in your entry.
• Entries may not be edited after submission.

Additional Entry Rules:
One (1) entry per person. If multiple entries submitted by the same entrant are posted, only the first entry submitted will be considered.


F. Winner Selection: The Sponsor, or Sponsor’s designee, shall select thirty (30) winners from among all entries using the following methodology:

The FINAL FANTASY XIV Community Team will select thirty (30) winning entries based on overall execution and quality.

G. Prize(s): Each winner shall receive one of the following prize(s):

• One (1) Ahriman Choker (an in-game Final Fantasy XIV item with no monetary value)
• One (1) Mandragora Choker (an in-game Final Fantasy XIV item with no monetary value)
• One (1) Bluebird Earring (an in-game Final Fantasy XIV item with no monetary value)
• One (1) Scarf of Wondrous Wit (an in-game Final Fantasy XIV item with no monetary value)
• One (1) Scarf of Wondrous Wit (an in-game Final Fantasy XIV item with no monetary value)

H. Winner Notification: Sponsor, or Sponsor’s designee, will notify Winner(s) by or about February 26, 2018 by email and / or forum post.

I. Sponsor: The sponsor of this Promotion is Square Enix, Inc.

J. Other Details: You must have an active Final Fantasy XIV account for the North American region to enter.

By entering the Promotion, you agree to be bound and abide by these Key Rules and the Additional Rules applicable to your place of legal residence, and you represent that you satisfy all eligibility requirements to enter the Promotion.

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN THIS PROMOTION. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. TO BE ELIGIBLE, YOU MUST HAVE LEGALLY ACQUIRED ACCESS TO FINAL FANTASY XIV PRIOR TO THE LAUNCH OF THE PROMOTION.
