Hi guys, I just came back to the game after leaving shortly after SB was released. I'm looking to level a healer, but I'm wondering which one is usually the most in demand these days~~

Hello. Every healer has advantages and all are pretty good and demanding. As Lv1, only Conjurer (a.k.a. Whm) is available and it is the easiest to learn. If this is your first healing experince, i'd suggest conjurer. If not, astrologian is the buffer and scholar is the mitigation healer. I am a scholar main, but i had trouble adjusting to it first when i was a noobAstrologian is also fun and cards are dynamic and fun as well if you don't hate RNG, which you can hate if you draw spire back to back 30 times :3
Anyway, all healers are good and all has their strong suits like i said. Conjurer is beginner friendly and they are all fun. You just need to see what you have the most fun with.
Good luck, i hope i could be helpful :3
My advice is not to play the one that is in most demand, but the one you like the best and suits your playstyle. If these line up great, and if you're flexible, awesome! If you are unsure, give them all a try, and see if you pick up any of them with ease.
Depends on whether you like the 'safe' option (dependable pure-healer that is all about raw healing power), a pet-centric healer where you'll have more than just your character to think about, or a card-based healer that plays an RNG mini-game to buff the group in-between healing folks.
WHM has no bells and whistles - it is what it is. Some may consider that boring when you have two very different options on the table, yet it is the class I enjoy the most thus far. Exceptonal dungeon-clear Healer, no external concerns, just me, my healing, and my damage - no pet, no cards, no drivel. If I screw up, it's on me, 100%, not RNG or any other factor. I've not played the other two enough to comment, but from what I've read on the forums, they're just as (or even possibly more) desirable, yet just not as 'safe' as the good ole stone-throwing WHM who pumps out raw healing power like nobody else.
Really just depends on what you prefer and/or whether you enjoy their in-game style.

What's "in demand" changes, but right now more or less everyone's in demand outside of speed/fflog inflation runs. There are some things that might influence you based on what you have levelled:
1. AST starts at 30, so you'd be able to get it and immediately be dungeon healing.
2. If you have SMN or ARC levelled, SCH inherits its levels. If you don't, you can't be an official healer until 30 because you can't SCH until ARC is 30.
3. WHM (CNJ) starts at 1. No shortcuts. You will get double XP below 60 so you can get those first few levels pretty quickly, at least.
They all play a bit differentyl, as the others have said. So I'd recommend trying one and seeing how you like it.

Right now healer balance is in a decent spot and all 3 are desirable in groups. Currently your choice of healer will not have a huge impact on your ability to find groups even in a higher-end context.
If you're looking to get an edge based on class choice you'll either need to roll the dice and just hope you've picked right the next time the balance scales tip in a major way, or level all 3 so you have whatever the next FotM is ready to go.
Any of them are good right now and they're all pretty much in demand.
So what you do is this:
use /random in the game and then look at the result in the log window:
1-300 White mage
301-600 Scholar
601-900 Astrologian
900+ = reroll

I would say AST and WHM have a lot in common when it comes to healing style where as SCH is very much it's own system. I see you've got AST at 52 so you have a bit of experience with Benefic/Benefic II/Helios/Aspected Helios/Aspected Benefic which all have counterparts in the WHM toolkit that they came from. If you've enjoyed that cool, if not SCH plays entirely uniquely in that respect.
Also feel free to ignore the people giving you actual personal preferences as if they're facts. I don't find WHM boring in the least bit. You could and that's fine but it is by no means an objective truth.
start with conjurer its always good to start with the basics of a role before going full steam ahead
