I remember when they implemented this change and everyone said "don't worry, the MSQ roulette will die and then they'll HAVE to change it back!" and then it didn't die, and newbies can still watch cutscenes. Maybe not all of them want to, but that's what youtube is for.
It did somewhat die actually, they had to increase the rewards to near double at one point after the change was made because for many people it wasn't worth the hassle. Now that the rewards match the time invested for those more interested in the roulette as a leveling tool things have gone back to normal. Those who don't want to sink an hour or more into a roulette still avoid it, while those who want to help newbies or those who don't really care and just pull up Reddit for every cutscene are still trucking along.

Personally I think the roulette is in a good place. I still think it was a clunky intervention but overall the majority of people seem to have found common ground now that the necessary tweaks have been made.

    It seems not completely!

We have people that wants the upgraded rewards AND a speedrun together! And them keeping this thread alive, it seems.

I've been running this roulette since the initial change, and there was never an issue getting in there. The reward increase made sense because the initial amount that was added was quite honestly negligible. Players who don't want to run this roulette typically state that you can get the same if not more tomes and exp running other content in less time, and they are absolutely correct about that. The conclusion I arrive at is that even with no increase to rewards AND the forced cut scenes, players are still going to run this roulette regardless.

I believe a big reason for this is because it has now become a place to relax and chat with other players for 30-45 minutes - not over an hour. These instances really only take 2 players (a tank and healer) knowing what they are doing and they get completed in 30 and 45 minutes respectively in clockwork fashion for Castrum and Prae. My worst run was about 51 minutes and that involved multiple wipes, and I just happened to be a DPS during that particular run.

I agree that it is in a great place right now. Those who want to run it do, and those who'd rather avoid it don't. It's a great and more relaxing alternative to getting a huge chunk of EXP and tomes.
