Not predicting the apocalypse, but it seems SE is unhappy with things as they currently stand as they are already looking to amend rewards. I would assume that means that the veteran participant drop off is more than they wanted.
Aaand now theres even a reddit guide to "how about NO" CS hell C_C
https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme..._how_to_shave/
I mean comeon I know SE would LIKE people to watch the CS's in an ideal world but realistically time is money and people are just gonna find a way around or abandon something the DO NOT WANT TO DO. Not to mention just bumping up the reward is just well...... asking for trouble maybe?

I mean this was obviously bound to happen. Get 5 players together and queue and just abuse this/zerg rush. How will Square react knowing the roulette is going to just get abused and new players will still be left behind.Aaand now theres even a reddit guide to "how about NO" CS hell C_C

It is safe to say nothing will happen to these players who abuse it.. Just like nothing happened to the wintraders ect.. Will this happen enough times to actually force Square to fix the entire problem or will we see another band-aid?

First of all it has to be said that this bypass as we can call it and its potential for spam farming isnt something like discovering a bug. This was something intentionally done BY SE and intentionally introducing this "feature" which wasnt an issue up to now.I mean this was obviously bound to happen. Get 5 players together and queue and just abuse this/zerg rush. How will Square react knowing the roulette is going to just gett abused and new players will still be left behind.

Second if they were to theoretically ban or temp ban people for dcing to cancel the CS it would potentially be like throwing petrol on a smouldering fire and the bad publicity would bite them pretty hard. Lest we forget this whole thread basically shows up the rather devisive and unwanted changes that were made. The fact were here still giving out about this shows its not going away anytime soon.
Third the real problem here has always been Praetorium rather than Castrum (which isnt much longer than before and the CS's arent that annoying there) which is has been admitted as a bad design by SE themselves and has not been been used since because of this. That being said do you really expect players to just simply sit there afk for 5 min multiple times expecially when an obvious way around it is available? The difference can shave 20min off thats SIGNIFICANT and a serious oversight.
The truth is they could just about get away with it with castrum but Praetorium NEEDS to be reworked. They could just remove the roulette entirely and just downscale Castrum to a 4man and dump it into the lvl50 roulette and instance a good chunk of Praetorium and Just turn Ultima into a trial fight but that would require effort and time to do which IMO should have just been done in the first place.
Alternatively all they had to do is just not allow cutscene skipping when someone in the group hasnt completed then duty and up the noobie exp bonus by 5 and tomestones by 10 and it would have been just about acceptable. Forcing people to watch the CS's when everyones already completed it though is just ridiculous.

And as a note, since someone's going to mention again, "THEY'LL JUST KICK THE NEWBIE" Code it so that kicking the newbie doesn't stop the cutscenes. There's much less of a point to that way. If they'd kick after that they're just doing it to do it and it was going to happen regardless.Alternatively all they had to do is just not allow cutscene skipping when someone in the group hasnt completed then duty and up the noobie exp bonus by 5 and tomestones by 10 and it would have been just about acceptable. It is called a loophole and you can't punish people for d/cing
Of course not. It would not only be ridiculously self defeating but would also trigger a significant backlash as well. You cant fix a bad design by making it worse forcing people to watch the same thing over and over and over.
Good luck proving someone intentionally did that and not just had bad connection. They could DC at random just to better the performance, and then watch the one report that would get through would be of a legit first timer who really did have connectivity issues. They won't do it for those reasons, meaning the 'workaround' is kind of bullet-proof.
I can't fault them for initially introducing that all that much because no one's infallible and everyone makes mistakes. The problem is that they insist on keeping what they continuously admit to be bad design in the game instead of removing it outright by any number of means. Instead, enjoy this glamour system that eats your gear.IMO should have just been done in the first place.

yeah i think it is neat they have those dungeons with that kind of feel. The problem arises when you are trying to influence people to do it over and over again. I honestly think the number of people caring about CS and feeling "cheated" out, is very few, compared to people that are running it over and over again PLUS new people that do not care for the CS. BOTH SE and people defending ths keep negecting there are new players that hate being forced to watch the CS or care for the story in general, some want to play the game just to play it. You can't force pleasing one personality.Good luck proving someone intentionally did that and not just had bad connection. Why didn't they just put that warning I keep suggesting? the same warning that appears for anything with a long CS? and introduce the PF and really suggest people make their own group of they are the type that likes to take their time with this kind of thing? This force unskippable CS change is miindbogggling and confusing to me why they would do this suddenly and now, neglecting there are new people who don't want to watch them.
As for the bullet proof thing ya I was trying to explain that too, it is more of a "loophole" then a "bug" that you really can't do anything about.
gl to those that want SE to hear this is a bs change, i do not have much longer in regards having access to the forums.

I more than agree, also you have to think about the obvious on this.......if SE banned ppl for that....innocent people would also be getting banned for doing nothing wrong as some people legitimately dc sometimes and not on purpose, and there is no way for SE to tell who purposely dc's and who legitimately lost connection. The day SE starts banning people for using this method to skip cutscenes would very obviously be the day they take their stupidity too far and drive their game 6 feet in the ground.
