They'll just get harassed to spam through the cutscenes instead most likely. So it'll still be a bad experience most likely. Heck, if you take the time to watch the cutscenes they'll probably vote kick you out to boot.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
I don't get this post. they're not saying sprouts don't deserve to have a good first experience or view the cutscenes, and in fact suggest an idea that would make both parties happy: A solo experience.
Veterans no longer have to go through the duty for the sake of a roulette, and new players get the best possible experience with the content.Calm please. And I hope SE change how mentor is done because i found a lot of crowned pretty useless.Did you even read the post? Making this a solo instance would let the newbies enjoy the cutscenes to their fullest without anyone else being held hostage. And, what, do you honestly think no Mentor will bail the SECOND they see what they got? At no point was I required to do whatever content thrown at me when I became a Mentor. That's not what the role is about and thinking it is is honestly misguided entitlement. Mentors are players too and have things they don't want to run. That's what the abandon penalty is for.
I hare read more than a player disappointed from this kind of rushing, not only in Praetorium but in levelling dungeons too.
The story is an important part of the ff14 experience, if you don't have time for a few cutscenes, don't queue a roulette: SE is giving a big bonus of EXP as a bait (or if you prefer "in exchange for your patience").
On the other hand FFXIV is a MMORPG: another big part of the gaming experience is playing with others.
I saw that kind of changes (=soloing the main story) in LOTRO: you receive an "ispiration" buff => high HP regen and huge boost in dps.
It may seem a good idea, but I feel alone, and I have less chances to socialize.
"you are exaggerating, it's only for Praetorium". Why? why not ifrit normal, titan, shiva or Bismark? and after that, why not for sastasha, or GG library?
This could become a stepping stone for "completely soloing ffxiv".
There is already too much solo content, do we need to change a group content?
Mentors are veteran players who chose to offer their time and experience to help guide new adventurers. To facilitate their assistance, mentors will gain access to a special chat channel as well as a means to easily register for duties and trials with new players.
As a mentor you are expected to actively perform the following:
1.Provide gameplay advice for new adventurers and other players.
2.Be an exemplar for player etiquette.
3.Invite new adventurers to the Novice Network and answer their queries in the chat channel.

I have 10,000 needles,
I'm not a weaver,
and I'm not scared to use them.
Exactly what people are gonna do. Those dungeons are going to be dead, effectively creating a wall for new players.
I don't mind a few cutscenes, but these 2 dungeons contain 30-40 minutes of them.
These need altering not because they're group content, but because of how cutscene heavy they are.
To use your examples of primal fights, those don't need altering and likely never really will, because for 99% of the instance you're actually fighting the primal.
It's not 10 minutes of primal fight, then pause and watch 10 minutes of cutscene, then 15 minutes of fighting the primal then stopping again to watch 10 more minutes of cutscenes, etc.
The main scenario duties can either be band-aid fixed with NPC squads, or rebuilt from the ground up as a couple of regular 4 man dungeons and 8 man trials. I know which I'd personally prefer, but I suspect the NPC option would be easier to implement.
The community takes the blame for this change. If players weren't so toxic to new players with "SKIP SKIP SKIP" S-E would not have had to make such a strong change like this.
Personally, I am very glad this change was finally made. New players deserve to experience the story the way the developers intended.
The 30th time you see it, it's not part of the story. It's just making you wait and get annoyed.
There's better solutions for these two dungeons. This is not one of them. The main effect of this is going to be to jack queue times way up unless the rewards are buffed massively.

I feel like it would only truly work if they verify that the two dungeons are part of Mentor Roulette and jack up the rewards so that it awards Creation tomes (or Mendacity when it becomes the low-grade tomestone).
New players are going to quit playing because they won't be able to get a queue in a reasonable time you mean. The community takes the blame for this change. If players weren't so toxic to new players with "SKIP SKIP SKIP" S-E would not have had to make such a strong change like this.

Also, it's very rare I see any toxicity and I run MSQ roulette once a day. Aside from "hellos" most people are dead silent, newbies and veterans alike. Most veterans, while they do rush, tell the newbie to "relax and enjoy the cutscenes". It's not like the fights are impressive, they're over before they even begin.
New players are not gonna experience the content at all, cause new players will be in queue for an hour, then, if it even pops, be stuck in a dungeon with 40 minutes of unskippable cutscenes. Noone has time for up to 2 hours to spend on this.
The roulette was made to let new players get into these dungeons in the first place, noone ran it before and queues did take forever.
Now imagine said new player arriving at this dungeon, it never pops, he is essentially blocked off from any further progression. He will be frustrated he can't get it done, possibly to the point he'll quit.
