They can plug in all the rewards they want to into that roulette - I'm still refusing to run it due to the unskippable and non-clickable dialogue speed cutscenes.

Nothing is worth wasting upwards of an hour on a run that can be bum-rushed through and offers nothing challenging, exciting, or enjoyable within it any longer.

I haven't run it seriously for years. I don't know why anyone would run it to begin with.

I do it to get some gil, some tomes, some xp, and to help others who need it to complete the story. And I could talk with those on my Discord, FC, and Linkshells. I have quite of bit of acquaintances and friends to catch up with.

I'm still salty about not being allowed to watch the cutscenes when i first did the content in march last year...

It basically ended with me shouting "WTF IS GOING ON!?" in the party chat because not watching the cutscenes resulted in a loss of context.
Followed by my refusing to participate in the boss fights due to said lack of context behind them and instead disrupting the other players by spamming the "Slap" emote at them the whole time.

If you are not gonna let me see the bloody story in a story-based game then you ought to expect some kind of backlash, even if the worst i can do is spam emotes at you and loudly demand an explanation for what is happening.

Off course, this just made them pissy because heavens forbid someone dare lash out at them when they ruin that persons experience

This was the second attempt after trying to watch the cutscenes the first time through resulted in a vote kick five minutes in, so i was in a pretty terrible mood at the time

At least while they yelled at me a fair bit for lashing out at them they didn't kick me over it like the first group did for far less

I like these dungeons. I am fine with the time they take. The cutscenes don't bother me at all.

What frustrates me is experienced players who are rude to people who are trying to learn new content. Personally, I have been using the party finder more often and noting that I am new to some group content and want to learn it. There are always rude experienced people who run ahead anyway and lock me out. Or they get angry when I make mistakes on boss mechanics. It happens a lot and frankly I am getting jaded with this community. When I start a party finder, I am CLEAR what my intentions are. I am sick and tired of jerks hijacking my learning runs. I often find the sprouts in MSQ roulette are more decent and friendly than many of the people who join my party recruitments.

Absolutely fair point. As a veteran player who didn't suffer from this personally - I played actively as ARR was launched - you have my sympathies.

That said, from my perspective, SE made the wrong call here. Their mistake was integrating cutscenes with a dungeon in the first place. That was an incredibly shortsighted decision, and it needs to be fixed: well and truly fixed. That means reworking the dungeons in question so that either they (a) can be run solo using NPC teammates, or (b) no longer feature cutscenes. Locking them in place and offering absurd amounts of Tomestones as a bribe so that the queues aren't hours long is not a solution, and SE should be roundly criticized by everyone - new players and veterans - for putting a band-aid on a problem that really deserves a true fix.

A fair point, though I do suspect as you slip further into the Tomestone grind, you'll come to view dungeons the way most long-term players do: boring content to be done as quickly as possible for the sole purpose of maxing Tomestones, if they're run at all. Within this dynamic - a dynamic that SE has fostered ever since ARR - the length of these dungeons is a significant problem. Speaking personally, I also find the cutscenes very irritating after the third or fourth time.

    Unhappy Used to

I used to run the msq daily it was a great way to try new classes in a dungeon environment without any real pressure. Sadly I ran this once after the changes thinking “how bad can it be” over an hour later I swore I would never go back again and I haven’t. So sad

I'm in the same boat as Baingoleth in that I still enjoy running both Praetorium and CM with all the cutscenes. I've run CM hundreds of times when I was farming darklight gear back at 2.0 launch and still enjoy watching the scenes every time. The more relaxed atmosphere and people joking around is one of the other reasons I enjoy doing MSQ on an almost daily basis now.

I don't find speed running fun and honestly don't understand the mentality behind always having to do it, I'm more than capable of keeping with speed runs, I just don't enjoy it. I play this game to relax and unwind after a long day, I want to take the time to enjoy the game... not rush through everything as fast as possible so I can log off earlier.

I don't blame speed runners because it's the system itself that needs urgent changes. Maybe more horizontal content instead of doing the same dungeons a thousand times ad nauseam? Maybe introduce new ways to get these so-called tomes? Make them drop from monsters and increase exp per kill or make open world a thing again? It still feels like a giant lobby after all these years.

I used to do this roulette for some tomes and exp.. now I do not. I simply waste too much time where I could be spending ten minutes or less in a trial, and end up with similar tome rewards. My first time, I didn't participate in any of the fights, I would finish watching a cut scene, and immediately go into watching the next one. Why? because the group had already cleared out the next boss.

My suggestion would be to break it up into a set of smaller dungeons, with a cut scene attached to the quest to enter them, and an exit cut scene instead of in the middle of the dungeon itself. That way everyone gets to watch it their first time without being pushed by someone else, and the people there to help aren't forced to wait it out. Because I'm not going to wait it out.. It's just not worth it.
