Yes, exactly, punish those "speed runners" by making it so no one will run the content and new players will now complain about how they can't even get in instead of how they couldn't enjoy the cutscenes That'll show them!Frankly, I love these new changes. It serves people right for just speeding through the dungeons and ruining the experience for the new players. Just the other day, my free company and I queued up with a total of seven people, and our eighth was a new player. We granted him the full experience instead of just speeding through, and he was having the time of his life.
Maybe people should learn to be more selfless instead of griping about changes that their own actions basically forced.

You know some players have a job and other stuff to do, I have limited time to play every evening, not going to put up extra 4O mins.
I've ran MSQ a thousand times, always to help others (and going in as tank so they don't wait), but you know what no problem to me, I never ran it for personal gain anyway. Have fun waiting!
That's really nice, now do that every single daily for roulettes. That's what they are asking, even for 8/8 in a party that has already completed it plenty of times before...Frankly, I love these new changes. Would you feel the same way when you queue and get the dreaded: "Average wait time: More than 30 minutes"? Because that will inevitably happen now.Frankly, I love these new changes. You can harp on people not being selfless but these cut scenes are upwards of an hour long. You can't reasonably expect a group of random strangers to just wait around that long while you watch cut scenes.
This, shame I can't give you a million likes for this answer.Would you feel the same way when you queue and get the dreaded: "Average wait time: More than 30 minutes"? Because that will inevitably happen now.

Adding on this this;
"And then do it at least every single other day". Also back to a previous point made, what if the newbie just doesn't care and would rather get it done with? What about those with different reading speeds, meaning one person gets done with the cs sooner than another and also find themselves just sitting around? not to mention those who will flat out go afk in a cs.
In making it a solo instance, it is a solution that appeals to all. New players who want to experience the story can, those who don't can get it over quicker, and for older players we don't have to stress over it anymore.
And with that I will never touch MSQ roulette again. Some of those cutscenes are nearly twenty minutes long for slow readers and when stacked together they're even /worse/, why in the hell would making them unskippable ever be the viable solution when most newbies can legitimately use things like Duty Finder or their own guilds to have an 'authentic' experience? You've essentially thrown the baby out with the bathwater SE, and probably turned the hellish queues into something even worse now.
I agree with the squadron idea, in fact given the advances in AI the team has made since ARR I don't know why this wasn't the main option they considered. Split it up between players who want to run with a proper group, but also give them the option to toggle it as a squadron mission as well. That way the people who want to see the story aren't pigeon holed and those who want to skip through the dungeon as quickly as possible to get to 2.1 are also allowed to have their cake and eat it too.I was literally just about to type up something similar. Those two have been a known pain for years, and now devs took the absolute worst option and made it unskippable. Nobody is going to want to run this now and its ridiculous. Did the devs think about what would happen if, say, a player went afk during the cutscenes? This is a very short-sighted patch, and its just going to gate new players horribly. Hell, tie THESE duties in with squadrons! Make it so that you and your 7 squad members can run it. And if new players don't even do squadrons, give them 7 NPCs, tone down the mobs, and break each section up into instanced quests.
Honestly, I hope the backlash on this is as fierce as the housing issue because honestly, the devs definitely deserve criticism on this decision. These two duties already have made some, not a whole lot, but some players quit over these cutscenes and impatience - now, very few players outside of helping their FC mates and good Samaritans every once in a while will run this.
Good job.
It feels like only yesterday I was running those 2 places. They really should make it solo, or just keep it as it is. It's not really that appealing to a new player to then have to wait forever on 2 occasions just to continue. I could only imagine them wondering "Is it going to be like this from now on?"
♥
We shall thank you in advance for volunteering yourself and your FC for running ALL MSQ roulettes on your datacentre for every new player that needs to get through, starting next week until a dev change to the system or we reach the end of our time in Eorzea.Frankly, I love these new changes. The worst part of this is that if the new player wants to skip the cutscene he can't.
If there are no new players people are still forced to watch everything.
