That, ppl got what they deserved. If you dont like it, dont run it, its easy.Considering it was Main Scenario Roulette, and not random non story roulette, I think in this case, the players have only themselves to blame. How many times have you run that roulette only to see new people lost, confused, and unhappy because players have left them in the dust and older players saying "just watch it on youtube or in the inn, stop making us wait." It was a roulette for story content. heavy story content.
Well, that's precisely what people will do.
That is precisely the issue the entire ruckus on that topic is all about. If you haven't noticed from Diadem at the latest, there's a distinct connection between the amount of people running a piece of content and the time it takes to get into that content.
"Speedrunners" don't give a rats butt, this isn't a punishment for them. They'll just queue for something else for their rewards. There's no reason for them to be concerned about themselves - The only one to be concerned about are newbies who'll have to deal with the consequences of "Don't like it, don't run it.", i.e. queue times, mentors leaving at the start etc.
You'd think SE would get it by now that they need to make them into solo-able instances with NPCs. Forcing the cutscenes isn't going to help the new people, it's going to punish them because they're not going to get anybody to queue up for it simply because people's time is being wasted for a useless reward. IMO, for doing the MSQ roulette with no skipable cutscenes, the reward should be around 100 Mendacity since poetics are pretty useless at endgame.Well, that's precisely what people will do.

To be fair, that's what the unanimous opinion is. Which means new players will now be faced with potentially waiting hours on a queue. Great way to stick it to the veterans... who don't even care?
Again, blamed for what? Unless the EXP is absurdly high or they stuff cracked crystals as an incentive, I'll just never even look at MSQ Roulette again. This change only impacts me whenever I decide to do Mentor Roulette. On the other hand, new players may suffer extremely long wait times. What some of you don't seem to get is the people you're pointing your finger at don't care. They'll go elsewhere to get their EXP and Poetics. New players don't have that option.Considering it was Main Scenario Roulette, and not random non story roulette, I think in this case, the players have only themselves to blame. Just a guess, but I feel like they meant "Blamed for it changing" because people treated it as a means to speedrun the rewards, not to help people trying to get through it. Now SE changed it to become "Helping people get through it" and people are raging.
My guess, anyways. I'll probably still run it, because when I did before, I always made sure that if there was someone new I would be there to lead them around. This won't be much different.
I think the biggest concern for me is, I knew 5 seconds after reading what they intended to do with the cut-scenes precisely what the outcome of doing it would be. How out of touch with the game actual must developers be in order to think that this was a good idea?
Hey, thats what rewards are for. If SE would not put any reward in to the dungeon many ppl would not run that dungeon, that was the trade off from SE to help the ques for newbs. As you can see they even added 80+ poes to rewards. If we are supposed to help newbs than why they gives us rewards? Why do they put a reward in a system where ppl should help newcomers aka Mentor system? Theres reason why is so many bad mentors bc they all care for the reward not to help the newbs. The reward was the bonus, not what the roulette was for. SE (rightfully, I suspect) realized no one would bother running the MSQ roulette with the base reward, so they added the bonus as an additional incentive to run it. The point of the roulette was still for helping newer players be able to run the dungeons required for the story. People just never treated it that way. I can't blame SE for people being people. And as I noted, while I did run it to take advantage of the rewards, I also did what I was supposed to, making sure new players could keep up, letting them know where to head when, and generally being the mentor I actually am.Hey, thats what rewards are for. To be fair, I also ran the MSQ roulette fairly often and rarely did I ever see hostility. In fact, people usually told newbies to just enjoy the cut-scenes while we all killed stuff. I or someone else usually stayed behind. It's the desire to have upwards of seven people wait until you're done watching them before proceeding that causes arguments. Unfortunately, SE tends to forget NA/EU culture is [i]very[/i[ different. Supposedly, JP players tend to wait whereas that's practically unheard of over here. They really need to hire overseas developers and what have you to better understand how we approach things. Shaming NA/EU players into doing something that doesn't benefit them just won't work on average. You'd think SE would get it by now that they need to make them into solo-able instances with NPCs. Strangely enough, this particular change seems to impact NA/EU more than others. So, congrats? Senpai noticed us.Unfortunately, SE tends to forget NA/EU culture is [i]very[/i[ different. Starting to think discussion of this topic might be better moved to its own thread (of which there are already multiples), rather than continuing to drown out the rest of the patch notes.
