They said in the Live Letter that houses would only be limited to FCs for a set amount of time, however these patch notes seem to indicate that certain plots will always by FC-only. We should get a definitive answer when the special housing website goes live.
All these people saying they'll never do MSQ Roulette now just proves how flawed the Roulette system is to begin with. The intent behind it was to get vets to help new players experience old content, but of course nobody actually cares about the new players, they just care about that sweet loot.
Not trying to act holier than thou. I never did MSQ Roulette before this patch, and I'm certainly not going to after. I'm not sure if there is a real way to incentivize people to help newbies, but this roulette system sure ain't it.
Mass majority only care about the reward this is true, but if SE doesnt give any reward for running dungeon, would ppl care more about sprouts? Maybe a minor group. If they would not give anything for me running this dungeon its non existence for me and for many other ppl too. This was compensate for sprouts and for veterans for queing up (and indirectly helping them to finisht this dungeon) if your doing it for reward or not, doesnt matter.
Its SE fault and not the communitys fault, we begged since 2.0 for fixing this shit, to make it instance, but nope, lets brute force it. Yay. Well the reason why now is probably to make new/veteran to buy the story skip. <_<
Its all according to the plan.![]()
It's not that people don't care about new players, it's the unnecessary time extension of the duty that a lot of people have gripe over. CM and Prae have well over 40+ minutes of cutscenes, that's probably including the credits and all after beating Prae, and now you're going to be forced to sit through all of those cutscenes again because of people wanting immersion. So it becomes a serious time constraint for those who were looking to just get it done and over with. All these people saying they'll never do MSQ Roulette now just proves how flawed the Roulette system is to begin with. What happens if a person goes afk while in the middle of a cutscene? This was the whole reason why we got auto kick and was able to skip those cutscenes in the first place, because people were going afk and abusing such a system. I remember not even being able to so much as run CM because people were queuing up and afking at the opening cutscene for the sake of trolling. So this is so much of a step backwards than forwards and seems more like SE thinking money first, since this'll force more players to just buy story jump potions instead.
So people should literally waste their time each day or at least once a week for 1-2 hours depending on the queue time (which is already not fast even right now) to help someone through this (if there is even a new player)? I mean its not like people are not already queueing randomly for other roulettes instead of going in premade..or people trying to explain fights and jobs to newer players? Should we go around and take half of our time that we can play the game (or even more) to run stuff with new players that we wont even see anymore?
Roulette is there to keep old content alive by giving the players a good enough rewards to do X the Y amount of time...this at least gives older content the chance to stay alive longer. You simply cant force people into this old stuff without a good reward. People dont just simply want to run this thing forever for nothing and why should they?
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
True..I was trying to get one of my friends to start playing the game with me. They were watching a dungeon. I hit skip on the cut scenes, they said "hey! you can't see the story?" I said "No people get mad, I've never seen what's in these except for what they show if you use the story journal in an inn or if I find it on youtube, you can't do that or they will leave you behind or kick you, I hit skip." No I won't want a game that's story orientated to skip all the cutscenes every dungeon because people can't wait long enough to let them play. And you've never seen them in an actual dungeon or raid yourself which means I'll NEVER see any of them." So that was the end of that. I shouldn't have let her watch the dungeon, I forgot about skip in trying to show her the graphics, large fights, exciting parts, of the game.
And why don't you? With the alliance raid roulette, they did (every time I was leveling it filled up to 70% of my exp bar, on a daily basis) so I don't understand why it would be any different here.I honestly have no hope that they would adjust the exp rate enough that people would do this roulette daily. Even then I could not see myself doing this daily if I always have to watch every single cutscene again and again..Tomes are probably not an incentive for a lot of veteran players because you already get a lot of poetics everywhere else.
People just like complaining, don't even know what the rewards entail and they are already losing their heads. Jeez!
"You have a heart of gold. Don't let them take it from you!"
People don't care that much about it in normal dungeons. A first-timer in there watching the cutscenes isn't disruptive because it occurs literally twice: right at the beginning when you're still in the circle of waiting, and right before the last boss which is generally just a quick boss intro (the Stone Vigil one is pretty long). But in CM and Prae... holy crap there are a lot of them and they're all lengthy. That's the complaint here. Personally I don't mind if a new player wants to watch the cutscenes. I watched them. They're part of the story. But I don't think it's unreasonable for people to be frustrated with a 15 minute dungeon taking 45 minutes because of cutscenes.True..I was trying to get one of my friends to start playing the game with me. I did not say anyone's opinion is unreasonable. I am simply stating that there are times when it affects people that are new to the game. It was an example. I am not discounting anyone's opinion on this, yours is as valid as mine in my view. I was just giving an example of the other side of this.People don't care that much about it in normal dungeons. Did anyone see the cutscene textbox size change in the patch notes? It was in the Dev blog but I couldn't see it in the patch notes. I was excited for that change
