    You can get enough gil by selling the materia you get by doing leveling roulettes as an adventurer in need (so tank). Bear in mind though that Free Companies with 4 or more people get housing first and there is no date on when private owners get to start buying the new houses.

    This, however they /are/ looking into expanding apartments so even if you can't get a house I wouldn't despair as you'll have more time to save for that.
