Gathering anything except for the absolute highest level, high quality materials (usually the ones locked behind folklore books) will not net you large chunks of change in one go. There are a few lower level materials you can gather which won't sell for excessive amounts but are used quite a bit so they sell at a low, but very consistent rate; alumen comes to mind as an example, but it will vary by server. Similarly, crafting won't make you much in large lump sums unless you are making the highest, endgame level stuff or very sought-after glamour pieces. The market for housing furnishings can also be lucrative, depending on the server. If you aren't willing to invest a lot of time in it (both leveling and stalking the MB to know what to sell and when,) I wouldn't bother.
