    Glamour/Armoire/Salvager System Merge

With 4.2, the new glamour dresser is introduced. This system should be a replacement for the armoire and the calamity salvager, as the intention of all 3 systems is the same, but instead all 3 are still in place.

Here is my suggestion for merging all three in a way that would be incredibly convenient to players, and would ease the data stored on square's side.

Before I get into that, I need to explain what is saved to square's servers per piece of gear you have:
    Item ID
    Quality (depending on item)
Materia Slots <- a materia type per slot
Stat modifiers(depending on item, like aetherial gear or relic after picking stats)
Current glamour <- which would require another item ID
    Current dye (depending on item)
    Current spirit bond
    Current condition

There is most likely more information saved in addition to this, this is just what we can see.

That is a lot of information saved for each piece of gear. My suggestion condenses this down into one BIT per piece of gear.

From the outside, how the Calamity Salvager most likely works, is that when you complete a quest, a true or false statement is tripped. There are When you check the salvager, you can buy everything that is set to true. This is what should happen for every piece of gear.

A byte is 8 bits. That is eight zeroes or ones.

00000000 <- this can be used as 8 true or false statements, 1 for true, 0 for false.

What the glamour dresser should be, is once a piece of gear is bound to you, the bit associated with it is tripped to 1, meaning true. This permanently unlocks it in your glamour dresser for use. If you don't need to actually use that piece of gear, you no longer have a need to hold onto it. This means that where the game would've been storing all of the item information listed above, it is no longer doing that.

What this would require, is 1 bit per piece of gear that exists to be saved. You could save this per character, or you could use the route Warcraft took for their transmog system and make it saved per account, have the glamour unlocks be shared across characters when one character unlocks it. This would incredibly cut down on the amount of data stored.

The only argument against this is that it would require a little bit more initial storage for either each character or each account. Instead of saving a piece of gear when you get it, it would be 1 bit per piece of gear per character or account as soon as it is created. Based on gear listed in the eorzea database, it would require an estimated 1451 bytes of storage per account if you're going for the most efficient use of the system. The actual number would be lower since a lot of gear has aetherial versions from dungeons that are duplicates in the database.

I can't say for certain that the calamity salvager already works this way. I can say for certain that this is the most efficient way that the calamity salvager could work. I can't say for certain how efficient square is in storing gear information currently. It could be anywhere from at least 4 bytes per piece of gear to over 10 bytes per piece of gear, there is most likely more information saved than the players can see.

In short, switching to the method I described above would certainly be a great feature for players, and would more than likely reduce the amount of data that square needs to save. The game currently has 3 different systems for saving gear for collection purposes, one of which is most likely already using the system i described on a smaller scale.

If you have made it through this, I thank you for your time and consideration.

I agree that all could be combined to have less uneccesary furniture. Maybe SE could add an upgraded version in the next patch?
