I have played my main character (male) since ARR. I have 3387 commendations . I do not give commendations based on gender. I only give them to those who play their job using everything in their arsenal to ensure stuff dies quickly and promptly. I will say this, my commendations are usually always given to a magic user jobs (pending healers - different criteria).Though lately, I have given some commendations to melee users but I am a little more critical of those jobs. I know this seems biased but it is my choice. Furthermore, my commendation is less likely to go to a healer or tank and more likely to go to a DPS...usually another magic user (again, healer pending - different criteria) but sometimes melee (ranged or physical).

I get most of my comms as a healer. Currently sitting at 5,629, first achievement is on 2/21/2014... anecdotal evidence, but I think healers just get the most. Nothing to do with gender. I give based on who impressed me most- usually tank or an exceptional DPS. I'm super critical of my fellow healers and won't comm them unless they really bust their butts like I do.

Well, comms are given by many many reasons. Would be interesting to study them in general. I wonder what kind of resources it would produce. Times I get the most of them are when I just call people bad on alliance raids or keep making jokes about wipes. It's probably annoying as hell, I don't know why I get commendations for it.

This is hilarious, I bet 90% of people vote w/o looking at character model. It's usually whoever is at the top of the list, or maybe what role they were, or by their performance in the dungeon, but usually just the tank at the top collects them all. Thats just me. ...

Never look at race or sex when I give commendations. It's usually the other DPS for me or the tank if it has been a smooth quick run with lots of AoE and the healer if they've kept me from dying after a major screw up on my part.

Pretty sure tanks and healers get 90% of the commendations even if they don't do a great job. Been a dps where saved the group from wiping and still never got one commendation. Notice when I am a healer get at least 1 to 2 commendations each time. Its very rare if ever see a dps get a commendation.

This study seems particularly flawed to me just due to the fact that, provided you have Phantasia on hand or if you don't mind buying one, you can change gender on a whim. Also because, as others have stated, just being a tank or a healer gets you the lion's share of comms, as it were, so gender doesn't really play into it.

This character has existed since around 2.4 or 2.5, has 1,376 coms, for the most part has mained MCH, and has never gender swapped with a Phantasia, if this helps.

Most of the time I never even notice a character's gender, I just comm based on how they play or act.

Implying that the small fraction of the player base that posts on forums, is even enough of a sample size for any kind of legitimate study...
