Hi everyone,
I am posting this recruitment flyer on behalf of a friend of mine, who is not a member of this forum:

I am a researcher interested in reward systems and group behavior. I am writing to ask your help in completing my master’s thesis at Texas Woman's University. I am studying the commendation system available to players of Final Fantasy XIV and I am interested in the likelihood of avatar gender differences in how these commendations are given out. All you need to do to help me complete my study is to simply post the total number of commendations you have received for your primary character as it is listed on this forum. For those who comment, I will also record information listed on the profiles of your avatars as they are listed on the Lodestone character search engine. I will be recording information on displayed class, presence in a free company, and avatar gender. (continued)

This is my main-char stat I actually quit playing end of oct 2017 for pve/casual content (just raiding on it atm).
Started a Twink for casual/pve in November which stays on sweet 134 smn-coms atm ^^'

This is hilarious, I bet 90% of people vote w/o looking at character model. It's usually whoever is at the top of the list, or maybe what role they were, or by their performance in the dungeon, but usually just the tank at the top collects them all. Thats just me. ...

Pretty much this. Character Gender has little or no determination on commendation giving. It's probably primarily job based. Tanks/Heals get the most,

I don't believe this. My original character in this game was female and racked up more comms than I have on the character I now primarily play, and both runs through I played as a DPS. I think there's something to this study.

And to that end, I'll also add I'm currently at 2,594 commendations. Also you might want to recommend to your friend, since I believe this information is public, to look up the achievements that identify when a character left their starting city state to determine over what length of time each player accumulated the commendations.

I have played characters of both genders, As I healer I get the most comms doesn't matter gender. They are all average looking poorly glamoured/ or not glamoured characters. The male is a crafting alt for HW and was a race to 60 just for crafting. His comms as sch: 279. Female crafting alt as a tank that made it to level 70 drk: 563 comms and is a clone of my main in looks and gear. My main character female played since launch of ARR. Most comms come from healing again though I only started tanking mid HW with fewest comms on dps. Main char comms: 4922. As for giving out comms, It is based on who made the content run the smoothest and I don't give a comm every time. End level needs to stand out for the comm. If I am in leveling with green leafs, those that do well or listen to advice get the comm. Sadly we can only give 1 comm as some times more players stand out or try hard to learn. I comm based on skill I guess you could say and could careless what gender or glamours.
