What ever kind of Ice tea you're drinking, please share it with the rest of us and make sure you hand a few glasses to Square Enix!
I mix Orange juice crystals with Fo-Ti root and Gotu Kola. It tastes a bit like Ice Tea.

and nah, that's just a 'word' slip up on my part writing a long first post. I don't think Star Wars 'failed'. i'm sure it provides enjoyment to many of its players who will play the game during its 10+ year lifespan, during which time updates and refinements will be made etc. It's Star Wars. What i was attempting to communicate is that it seems destined to only ever be another surviving MMO with good qualities and bad qualities and a good, but never overwhelming player base.

...as seems to have been the case with every non WoW MMO. I`m okay with that. I don`t like Justin bieber anyways.
Maybe that just IS the future of MMOs generally, which would make sense. one big bieber and a whole bunch of other quality surviving titles. I certainly hope that this time around, Phantasy Star is one of them. I have a copy of the first title on my shelf still.

it is looking more and more to me as though FFXIV will be able to join this modest group of `surviving`titles, which gives me a lot of happiness.

But... and i know this has been beaten around before,
i really wish SE would throw more media at us.
Videos, screenshots, all kinds of stuff, leak things!
Let it go viral in this coming year everything they can throw at us and let that be the advertising.
This resource is ... as always, going sadly untapped.

Edit: Well, better tapped than in other cases of SE games throughout history, but much moar tapping could be done.

hmm... the following is just for me...

For me, it's not that fair to compare ff14 with other games... I devote my time mostly on ff14. when I looked at other games, I feel they are junks. that's only because I already used to ff style. graphic, chill-ness...everything. my expectation already sync more to SE's mindset... So, I went to PAX or some of these game convention, I kept thinking "inferior," and grab their freebies! XD

But it's more like I'm more a Windows user not Mac... no matter what ppl said how good is Mac it's just not for me.
My mindset is closed for other options. But, I'm perfectly aware of that. that's why "for me" (why I kept saying that) I still give room for Mac users to say how cool their stuffs are and joke with them how sux windows crash my system and give me blue screen... cus in the end it's all personal preference.

I'm glad OP is somehow sync with my preference too tho ^^

PS. I will not give SEGA & phantasy star another change... Phantasy Star Universe or something is one of the worst ever online game I paid... but for their defense, I was playing ff11 back then, so can't really blame them. I got SE's poison too deep.

PSO was good ;_; the bad thing of that game was the worst online service ever.
Anyhow, SW it's the most revolutionary game ever: a single player game which you pay every month to see it's end. Who would never play it ! People playing it know it's true.

Star Wars a failure? Ask the 1 mil pre-orders. But if you go to the forums, it's way worse than FFXIV's with their vocal minority saying that SWTOR sucks, mainly because unsubbed player's free time is up in the next couple of days and they can't post anymore if they don't sub. Also, you should hear what their forums have to say about FFXIV. LOL

    inorite? lol

    to OP:
XIV 10 players and 5 of them on the forums is still very much identical to say SWTOR's 1million players and 500k of them being on the forum

All ratios, i think a lot of people dont seem to see this, they see lots on bitchin on the forums n think "wow look at all these people angry with swtor, it must suck" when in related the ratio to people posting, and people defending or just ignoring and playing is MUCH higher than XIV haha.

SWTOR is doing fine, has some major bugs atm but in general its going to do well and has been making money out the ass. Not to mention is not scrapping at any "free" months like XIV did immedately until it decided to go free to play.

As for the graphics and the OP's view on desert, well maybe the guy had his graphics on low, who knows, the game isnt next gen graphics at all, and that is because you can have hundreds of things on screen at once, if you bothered to read the devs posts you will hear they constantly state you cannot have much on screen due to the graphics being high, and this will be fixed in v2.0, do you know how they will likely fix it? dumming down the graphics lol probably not as much as SWTOR but maybe down so its on par with TERA/GW2/BladeAndSoul etc.

Warhammer Online pushed over 1.2 million copies within its first two weeks after release. The game is now essentially dead. While I think SWTOR will have more staying power than WAR, preorders and launch numbers don't really mean much. The real tests are the three and six month marks.

Completely agree. As for the graphics issues others have mentioned, all of us here understand the problems that come with running a game on an unfinished game engine. I don't know if they'll have to go as far as releasing a 2.0 client like we're dealing with here, but the TOR client has some serious technical flaws at the moment.

my prob with SW is i dont want to be playing a game 5 years from now that looks like its 10 years old already. FF made a good decision to make high end graphics but bad decisions with servers and trying to make the world to big and open.
