Also I don't understand why they need to nerf and buff two jobs because of parsers differences. Just buff the job thats lacking. No need to keep swimming the nerf hammer back and forth on jobs forcing people to switch update to update
They only nerfed the AoE. And didn't say how much. BLM might still be bad unless the Fire IV buff is absurdly strong.
The nerf on SMN Area damage is mostly because it's too strong right now, and seems like one of the Sigmascape encounters has AoE involved.
From my understanding their (low) AoE is getting lowered and their ST is getting slightly buffed (of all things), though that was an off-discussion with a friend, not gleamed from an official source. I doubt the nerf is going to do much to SAM.
"And all the Hyur's say I'm pretty sage – for a White Mage!"
Some say they are buffing ST to compensate for aoe nerfs, which might mean they are nerfing akh morn that some ppl have said they are gonna touch, but the official translation is not saying anything more than aoe nerfs
If they nerf akh morn, that will naturally nerf singletarget dps as well and thats why st dps spells need to be buffed. If original purpose is nerf aoe, but keep st dps same.
It may indeed just be an Akh Morn and possibly Deathflare nerf, possibly done by increasing the dropoff of those abilities.
Whatever the case may be, Summoner will not be made useless. Their superior damage vs. BLM will stay the same, just with BLM being able to finally catch up damage wise (but hopefully BLM is more powerful than that) and SMN will maintain its support tools.
As I said elsewhere, the nerf is pretty pointless. SE hitting AoE. The only place that matters is in roulettes, meaning it doesn't matter much at all. It won't effect end game.
Incidental aoes are a thing however and teraflare phase is a thing too in ultimate, they are idd scarce and rare but they are here
It's because of the changes made to SMN. The changes buffed them in certain areas that they hadn't intended. Since it was before a patch cycle they had time to adjust it without changing it with a kneejerk reaction.
The reason they are nerfing SMN dmg is because this game has 9 DPS jobs. The upcoming content is based on intended DPS, not the DPS that SMN was getting. So if they were to buff other jobs(aka they would have to buff all 8 jobs + buffing tank/healer dps) to be in balance with SMN DPS, then they would need to re-evaluate the HP/DMG values of Omega/Byakko. It's just easier to readjust SMN to it's intended DMG potency than it is to buff every other job to compensate for SMN unintended potency.
