Gonna stick with SAM. Most people who are complaining aren't even doing endgame content tbh.

Exactly. When I played The Secret World, tanks were responsible for debuffing enemies- Expose and Debilitate, which increased damage taken by enemies and decreased damage done by them. DPS was responsible for damage and party buffs. It was simple and efficient and allowed for various DPS to be played without worry. You give it to the tanks. Giving DPS permanent vulnerabilities enforces more party compositions, where as giving it to tanks does not. It wouldn't even have to be different vulnerabilities among them, just each tank job is capable of applying a stack, at 3/6% increased damage taken. Let it go up to 9% if you want to triple tank something.
I honestly think that's the best way to handle it.
Once again history repeats itself. Remember the fiasco that was WHM vs AST?It's strange because SAM was in such a great position in 4.0... but then they buffed all the other classes so the gap closed. Now SAM is no longer wanted. They really need to look at SAM especially after the MNK buffs. MNK was already close to SAM in DPS and wouldn't surprise me this pushes it over.
WE GET TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN
Currently there are two obvious paths SE can take with SAM (And BLM). There are other solutions yes, but these seem to be the most glaring.
First Option: Give them useful raid buffs and admit that the concept of a selfish DPS class seems to not work in it's current system.
or
Second Option: Increase their personal DPS by a wide enough margin to make them an engine of destruction.
I made a post about just increasing their slashing debuff recently (a third option) essentially letting them be selfish, but still helping the party considering all tanks are Slashing based. A sam would be wanted in any party that also had a warrior due to their damage focused attitude. If the party also had a ninja it'd make a very vicious pairing and likely balance the whole build out.

I'd be all for the "make them an engine of destruction" option B there. That's what SE intended them to be in the first place and was worried they'd be OP. Just go all the way with it.Currently there are two obvious paths SE can take with SAM (And BLM). There are other solutions yes, but these seem to be the most glaring.

Either way, it's pretty clear that Samurai and Black Mage need SOMETHING. I was really disappointed to see SAM get completely ignored for this patch, as someone aptly put it we're about to see the AST situation all over again. They're going to hit full-on rock bottom and THEN, someone at SE will finally notice.
Currently personal DPS rankings (99%)
Black Mage are in a decent position now, way ahead of the rest in terms of personal DPS. Monk is way too high with the added utility. Samurai is pathetic when you consider no added Raid-DPS contribution or utility. If Samurai was up there with Black Mages it would be acceptable. Most jobs are in a good spot now, Monk way too high, Samurai totally inacceptably low, DRG a bit high, and the rest is fine.
When you look at actual Raid DPS Samurais are on the very last spot now with Red Mages.

The problem is the Dev listen too much to the community and by doing so comforted them into what a lot of player wanted: ruin the job.
Flat out since SB released people kept complaining that SAM deal too much damage and the result is what we have today. Other job getting a massive buff
and SAM totally ignored.
Now maybe, MAYBE, the dev are actually waiting on how thing are going with the update to see in which direction to push SAM...

Yep, Either put SAM on par with BLM, nerf trick attack and battle litany a bit, and lower monks personal dps, or give SAM some utility. NIN/DRG/MCH/BRD Meta has been a thing for too long. Time to change it.
SAM are being locked out of many PF groups due to its low damage output and zero utility. Given how much they buffed BLM this patch, it is a huge oversight by SE to not bring SAM dps up in line. The problem is further compounded by the increase to MNK damage making SAM totally unviable in many serious groups as virtually all other melee dps classes are clear cut better choices. The fact that SAM provides no utility isn’t the problem here, it’s that it cannot compensate for this lack of utility in other areas namely damage. The devs should have foreseen this. I hope in future they will analyse more from the data of top raid groups and the general meta comps in order to adjust balance, and not base it on cries of the general community. Sincerely wish we don’t have to wait until 4.3 to see balance changes put into place.
