Box Turtles

Hey all, I've been trying to catch Box Turtles to help level up my Alchemy but I can't find a good spot. Is spearfishing the best way? I honestly don't like doing it. Is there an alternative fishing spot to pick them up?

I think you can fish these up aswell.

They are freshwater, and i believe its -4 for sweetspot.

I would give Hatali area or Black Shroud areas a shot. Grade 3+.

Thanks Shyd! I've tried Black Shroud in the south eastern area by Camp Tranquil but no luck. Do you recommend any lures or bait? I prefer lures if that's possible.

Catching them for gc seals right now. NE of horizon at the lake there. -4 with a wildfowl fly. I heard rat tails work a lot better as I'm catching a lot of junk as well.

Alright, thanks CrstyCaptin. I'll go check it out tonight. I tried that with a Chocobo Fly I believe but only caught river crabs and other junk.

Box turtles are done, but I did some searching around before it was over and trying any other grade other than 3 there by horizon provided zero box turtles. I know you can spearfish the by humblehearth. Also, I tried topwater frogs which vespers chart says they favor, but that proved zero bites as well. It's hard to single them out unless you have a ton of rat tails since they share the same sweet spot as river crabs (which npc decently so it's not all bad).

Thanks CrstyCaptin. Yeah I think I'm gonna buy a couple stacks of Rat Tails to try and catch some. I'll also try wildfowl fly later on and see if it works.
