    Launching Issue: DirectX Fatal Error

    Hiya guys.
    I recently had my PC install a Windows 10 forced update, and now FFXIV won't launch using DirectX 11.
    When I log in on the launcher and go to click run game, it pulls up a black screen for a few seconds then gives me an error;
    "A directX fatal error has occurred. (10000000)" and closes the game. This wasn't happening before this recent windows 10 update.

    The only temporary solution I've found is to return my PC to a previous version of windows 10, and the game works when I do that, but my PC is insistent upon updating almost immediately to the newest version. I have had a few friends update their PC's to the newest version and the game works fine for them, so I'm not sure of what on my system is causing the DirectX Fatal Error.

    * Note: The game DOES work if I run it using Directx 9 setting on the launcher. I just would LIKE for it to work with DirectX11 because of the performance issues.

    No clue if it's linked to a windows 10 error or what. :/ This windows 10 update has me at DirectX12 but obviously no game supports that and it should be using directX 11.


    Things I've tried:
    - I Reinstalled my GPU.
    - I Reinstalled FFXIV.
    - I've updated all my drivers via device manager.

    If anyone has any tips or information as to why the game won't run with DirectX 11 compatibility mode on, I would be thrilled. I can play for now with DirectX 9 but would like to fix this silly problem.

    Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    We've noticed this error a few times with people updating Windows 10. Do you have any overlays while playing the game or any other programs running in the background when you start the game?

    Have you tried reverting your Graphics drivers? It may seem counter productive but the newer versions might be conflicting with the update.

    We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
