I have been fighting with other players to get instanced housing since housing was a thing.

And no making gil is not hard, but it does take time. And I knew there was a social element to the housing, like I said, I like that part. Many people have come in and sat and chatted with me or had a look around. It's when ppl come in and erp, talk in /s and everything else and the GMs just shrug it off. That is not something you expect to have to deal with or lose one of the only good parts of public housing. That would be like poisoning the cake, but if that happened I could take the baker to court without having to never eat cake again.

And again, there is no rng, the houses always opened at the top of the hour and you just had to look. Like I said, I did it casually and houses were always popping up, except mansions. There is no inner dice roll that determines if they open that devs can adjust to give ppl more options. It is not determined by the game or anything that has been programed, like loot drops. The houses may appear at random since reclaim is a thing, but there is nothing mechanical going on. So it can hardly be compared to dungeon or primal loot. This sort of chance and rng are completely separate things. And reclaim will still work as usual, 45 days so it wont make it worse it will be exactly the same as always, you just cant buy a house from a player anymore because you don't know when it will be open. Which is a mighty fine solution to the housing situation and prevent ppl from buying houses just to resell. So actually it should make getting a house easier. IF you put effort in and watch the wards.

I swear ppl wanna put zero effort into anything but still reap the rewards.

Genuinely didn't know this. Granted, I also haven't really been house hunting yet. Going to wait to see how things go when the new wards open, then think about getting a house.

I think you and I just view rng differently. To me, it is basically random change. It's how it feels at least, sure there are numbers to it, but at the end of the day, it is still random. Knowing the housing demo is on a timer is comforting, since that takes some random out of the mix.

Also, this doesn't have anything to do with people not wanting to work, it just has to do with people being tired of a horrible system. My complaints are just that it sort of feels a little like taking things for granted, to complain about people in your yard while the forums are on fire talking about how so many people don't have homes. Keep in mind, when I say 'you', I mean everyone complaining about yard squatters, not anyone specific. I will say, if people are actually harassing you, erping, etc, report them. If they have done anything in the chat at all that is against the ToS, report them. Assuming you don't do that already, if you do, then carry on, and I am sorry you have to put up with all of that.


I still say they should make a way to lock people out of your yard, especially if they are blacklisted. Maybe make a thing for FCs to blacklist people too.

You know, asking people to be polite and respectful is not saying "I DON'T WANT ANY VISITORS TO MY HOUSE" it's asking people to be decent people, and if your response is "well you can't tell people to act that way it doesn't work" then screw you. Not everyone is a raging a-hole.

I wouldn't mind seeing someone in my yard or looking at the inside of my house. That would mean someone was actually there to begin with. I'm at my house fairly often and only very rarely do I see anyone at all.

I wish people would show up in my yard.

I've been in Shirogane since it opened and have seen people twice (checking the marketboard). My ward is so empty of life.

I recall reading at one point, someone came home to their house to find people erping in say on their bed...

wake up to your self there are new player that don't own a house fc's that do not own a house they need to work you there skills i say BOO you to not helping new players Let them use it if you do not like then do not place one SIMPLE as for me everyone is welcome to use mine anytime they want

Reading this thread saddens me greatly.

You have a house to yourself - and that entire group of people do not , yet you have the arrogance to complain they're interacting with stuff in your yard?! This a dream come true for FFXIV, it was designed to have that neighborhood feeling, and you actually experience it, and of all things to get angry over it is the use of a striking dummy that has zero cost to you.

If you're not a fan of this kind of thing, just get rid of the house so someone else can enjoy - then again, this kind of opinion i am addressing says "things that annoy me personally are more important than a group of people having fun doing nothing destructive" so its probably also the same mentality that you believe you are better than they are - which you'd then be best off keeping the house to rub in their faces and then post here.

Like I asked earlier, is it really a "Neighborhood feeling" if they are only uses stuff in your house/yard and not actually interacting with you or the other tenants of the house?
I don't know about you, but if some one or a group of people came to my house IRL and tried to have sex in my bath tub or tried to jump on my shrubbery in some lame attempt at parkour, "Neighborhood feeling" wouldn't be the first thing that would come to my mind... >x>

If you're salty about not having a house, just say so, don't hide behind this so you can call people who do have it selfish and make yourself feel like you're on some moral highroad (or that wouldn't be complain about it if you did have a house).

Why would you think i'd paint all homeowners in a negative light simply because i said the OP is selfish while at the same time desiring to be one myself? Thats like me saying all nurses are stupid while im in nursing school.

I get you dont think people interacting with your house is "neighborly", but do you REALLY want housing to be desolate places many people claim they are? Try talking to these people, you never know what happens. You could even be the change you want to happen in your ward. Instead, you are annoyed by their existence, and even voice suggestions to eliminate such interactions.

You DO control housing interiors, so anyone complaining about one-off stories they heard about happening in someone elses house isnt exactly relative. Far as exteriors, im not exactly sorry when saying it, but suck it up or seriously - dont bother using the content if it really bothers you that much.
