I Stalker heal as well - follow someone..just patch them up as you go...you'll figure it out what works and doesn't.
Honestly I'd rather be able to test limit breaks.
    Sprout healer over here!
I enjoy doing this as well, but targeting Non-party players on console is a nightmare. Especially when there are many people or enemies and I'm trying to single-target heal someone.
I've tried messing with my targeting settings, but must be doing something wrong.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can work around this?

    Hook up a mouse.

No it's not a smarty pants answer. I'm being real. I play on controller and when I have to heal NPCs, I switch to my mouse just to target.

Other option would be to make use of the targeting filters and have one only for NPCs.
    Character Config -> Filters
Filter Customization section, Enable one of them and edit to just have NPCs.
Then when you need it, use the combination specified. (I use a x360 controller so I see things like LB + B, but if you use ps4 it'll be things like L1+X or whatever you picked)
Then use d-pad left/right to cycle.

Personally just easier to switch to mouse to target NPC's.

Back on topic, a healing dummy (or a healing SSS with AI party members whose health go down at different rates to simulate the one tank + 2 dps) would be very much appreciated

You have to adjust your filter settings basically. It's quite easy on controller just tweak the settings to your liking until it works the way you want it

Hmm, doesn't duty finder already cover this request?

I don't see any harm in adding healing dummies. You could also practice on your chocobo (and use the battle log to see how much it did).

Other suggestions: I have R3 set to target target's target, so if the NPC is tanking, it's easy to swap (also works great for FATEs, or general purpose duty healing).
Alternatively, target nothing, zoom in close so that the NPC is the main/only targetable thing in you view and press X (or whatever "select" button).

Can't you just ask someone to party with you? I mean there's skills like Nature's Minne, Convalescence, and Mantra that increase healing amount too, and dummies won't provide that.
