i have more then a year now enough gil to buy a large one but never get a chance to buy one. and im sick of it to wait and get a slap every time if there is a mini option to get one but the game dont let me.

last time the shirogane log-in fail didnt let me and this time the free company first rule will screw me.

There's a lot of people vying for an extremely limited resource within a limited resource. Right now there's only 288 large houses per world, 432 per world after 4.2. Maybe you'll get lucky, but the likelyhood is you're going to have to settle for a smaller size house if you want housing at all. I think they were looking into making apartment upgradable (likely carbon copy interiors of the various size houses), so you might at least get the chance at having the interior you're after.

If you can afford, try and find a small house now (before 4.2) and then try and relocate to a large house with the new houses. From what they've said it seems only personal purchases are blocked, relocations are not. So if you can in on the housing now, you can relocate then.

This. It's smarter to buy a small plot now, and use the moving option to sneak past the other buyers who are simple taking a plot off the new ward market, so to speak. People moving will get first priority on personal plots, because to SE you are simply trading one for one.

I'm actually fine with the FCs getting first dibs even though I myself have wanted a personal house for years and it locks me out, because it also maximizes the amount of the playerbase who even have access to housing benefits at all. I'd say it's a long time coming. There will be other ways to get a reasonably priced house, especially with flipping and hoarding not being possible anymore, and even if current hoarders are grandfathered in this new system will completely change that dynamic by making it impossible for newcomers to buy up multiple plots and leave more available to the masses. I mean, with the current system, if you've had the Gil for a mansion saved up all this time and haven't been willing to pay a flipper (or if the flippers are asking more than you can pay) and you aren't playing this game on a beast of a computer and with an awesome connection, you were never going to end up with a large personal house in the first place. At least after the update housing should be more accessible to everyone even if fcs are given preference.

Personally, I'm going to echo the suggestion to buy a smaller plot now so that you can take advantage of relocation when the patch drops. If it doesn't work out for you this time around, not only will there be other increases to housing wards down the line, but future mansions will be relinquished or demolished without automatically being advertized in a PF or elsewhere online first.
