As a new player, running through the Praetorium dungeon was the worst

Just ran through the Praetorium dungeon to finish up the ARR story and it was rushed the whole way until the last boss. From my experiences with previous dungeons, I've just given up completely on watching cutscenes and now watch them prior/after.

Also one asshole at the end decided that allowing people to watch a few lengthy cutscenes wasn't part of his agenda so he typed up a big paragraph which I'm pretty sure included key story points and spoilers from both Heavensward and Stormblood. So now before I've even gotten around to buying the Stormblood expansion, there are a few things I now know beforehand which pisses me off..

I don't get why some people need to go to these lengths just because a dungeon takes a little longer than expected. I don't know, maybe my anger isn't warranted, but what's wrong with those who want to be invested into the story/lore of game they play. Yeah we're a couple years late to the party, but what gives....

Edit: Wow this blew up a lot more than I expected. For those that are reaching out to run through the dungeon with me, I appreciate the gesture, but I finished the dungeon and watched the cutscenes on Youtube. I also did not know about the option to watch story-related cutscenes inside the Inn so I will be going back to that later just so I can see my own character in the cutscenes.

Also, I logged off right after I finished because I was irritated so I do not have any information in regards to the player who typed up spoilers nor do I remember anything about them. Rather than trying to figure out whoever this was, I am just going to leave this behind and move along. Regardless, I'm still excited to play through the story for Heavensward and Stormblood later on.

You're right to be angry. This has been a long going problem, which is the reason why they changed how the final dungeons happen in Heavensward and Stormblood. Unfortunately, this is the norm for people now. People will actually kick others if they want to watch the CS. It's disgusting, and I really wish they'd do something like split the dungeon into a bunch of trials or something.

Ah, sorry for your experience. That's long been a problem. Since then, SE has cut back on the length of cutscenes that play in the middle of dungeons, so you shouldn't have that experience again, for what it's worth.

Unfortunately, this happens on a regular basis. I recommend using Party Finder for that dungeon and Castrum in order to have a proper, epic adventure with people who actually want to be there, but the game doesn't tell you this anywhere and the random people you'll meet in Duty Finder often want to speedrun everything as they've joined on a 'roulette' basis.

You could try bringing it up in a question in the Producer Live Letter Questions thread. It's been years since this problem began and new players are still having horrible runs with selfish groups of jerks. Seriously, just one quest pop-up beforehand advising you to make a group in Party Finder instead for Praetorium/Castrum would solve 99% of these problems before they begin

The devs already admitted long ago that the praetorium and the other end-dungeon design was a failure. In newer content they usually put long cutscenes before joining the dungeon or after beating the isntance.

If you want a story experience I suggest to maybe get 1-2 friends at level 70 and do it unsynched (it's more epic to be only a group of 2-3 anyways).

I never saw people getting kicked for cutscenes, People just ignore them and keep runing and finishing the dungeon by themselves. Since it does not matter if others watch or not. You can do most bosses with just tank, healer and one dps.

It's literally impossible to do the ARR final dungeons and watch the cutscenes alongside the content. By the time you finish one cutscene the next one is up. Those 2 are broken and they gave them their own category in the duty finder order to separate them from other content. You literally have to watch them on youtube to get the story properly.

I completely sympathize with you and am sorry your experience in Prae was not good. Unfortunately this issue is a catch 22. On the one hand no one was doing old content like that and someone like you who is just starting to get into FF14 and run the final ARR content would literally never be able to queue up and actually finish the main story leaving you pretty much stuck not being able to get into Heavensward content. This is why SE decided to make it rewarding i.e. XP for leveling or Verity for level 70 classes, so that people in your situation would be able to get these things done.

I've personally been kicked for it. I was a healer, and both me and the other healer wanted to watch the CS. So they at least kicked me when I refused to skip. Dunno about the other healer.

i hear you. As a healer i had just unlocked Kugane Castle last week. The last boss was awesome. However, as I was watching the cutscene I saw the "this room will be sealed in 15 minutes."

I think it is inconsiderate for new dungeon folks as well
