Those people on Mateus that own a whole ward have barely touched the majority of their houses

As someone that actually plays on Mateus, I can confirm that this is a false statement. That ward is my "I'm waiting for my instance to pop" romping ground(and frequent rp gathering place), I love it, and I can tell you, I'm finding changes in those houses all the time, and currently all but three are open to the public to use for events, rp, etc (as stated and encouraged by the home owners). The three still locked are under construction.

It's really not. I have an alt over there I play fairly frequently and while it's been a bit improved, it's just the same stuff over and over with only bare decorations put in. And even if they were completely, beautifully decorated, it would still be the height of greed.

Are you sure we're talking about the same thing? It's kind of hard to call any of those houses and their decorations "bare". I mean, it's pretty obvious that each open house has every housing item slot filled, the decorations thought out, dyed, etc. They put a lot of work in. Perhaps we should just agree to disagree though, opinions and all that.

I will say though, if you're going to say things like that though, it should be aimed at ALL home owners, means any person that has set up an RP space, and not updated it/touched it in a while, should be just as shamed as the ward 12 two. Some might think them owning many houses is greed, but they didn't break any rules, and the majority of those houses were obtained when the server was dead, and there were dozens of empty houses in all the wards. It only because a problem when people got a literal free ride to the server, and then cried when there were no houses for them.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. Hate the poor system SE has put into place, and rather than ragging on people that have just played the game as it was designed, complain about the company that designed it that way, and demand that they design it better. Housing shouldn't be a finite resource, but they insist on making it one. That is the problem that should be focused on, not some petty war between the haves and the have nots.

And I say all this as someone that does not have a personal house in the game.

It only because a problem when people got a literal free ride to the server, and then cried when there were no houses for them.

Then they bought more houses after the server became active, and bought most of them around when transfers were announced. And that's just unfair to new players who might have joined in Stormblood. I say this as someone with a house. They're an embarrassment. And sure, they can do whatever they want with their houses, at least they've done sort of something, but they're just huge snobs that don't want to have a paissa house for a neighbor. They knew what they were doing and I don't have any sympathy for people with 10+ houses that might end up losing them.

Why is this still a topic? all old house oweners get to keep their one or 10 houses where new players who want a house have to wait till FC's snatch first and then get left overs. SE sure knows how to make it "fair and square" as Yoshida said for everyone.

Holy hell, do people not understand how MMOs work.

MMOs are social games for people to play together. They're not designed for the social outcasts to hoard houses or play tea-parties with their retainers.

The problem with most people who have more than one house is that they're so short-sighted that it makes my head hurt. Take a moment to consider what the real intention of these features were. Do you honestly think anyone at Square-Enix said "yes, these houses are limited, and people should hoard them!"

So they made an oversight. Square-Enix certainly dropped the ball on housing, but just because they made a mistake doesn't mean you should play dumb too. Try to think critically for once. Don't look at a system thinking "how far can I exploit this?" Instead try looking at a system and thinking-critically on "what's the intention of this system."

If you think the system was designed for people to hoard houses and deprive other people from property then you've failed the thinking-critically part.

So you're telling me cause I, someone who love this game to the death and been active since alpha 1.0 who play all classes, love crafting and gathering AND decordating my houses, cause yes I have and had multible houses (currently own 3 houses incl 1 FC mansion) should be punished for following the game rules?

I can agree with people who are against people who buy plots solely to resell them but majority of us who own multiple houses actually use them actively and have them all decorated.

I'm saying you're not thinking-critically on the situation. You're putting your personal experiences ahead of the community. You argue that you should have houses because 'you' enjoy them. Be damned everyone else. And that's why you lack empathy. You can't think beyond your own bubble.
