Hmm, given how Omega is trying to make itself better and is using stories/legends/tales and extrapolating on them to find the ultimate form I could see something like the following as a progression:
O9:Midgardsormr --> Since the two of them are already at odds and Midgardsormr is a powerful foe to Omega then it is a likely test of power for the group.
O10:Chaos --> A nod back to the final boss of the original for nostalgia and a very powerful foe.
O11:Warrior of Light/Darkness (2 parter/phase change between them) --> And since every story has the hero winning for the most part then why not have you face off against the hero to see if that holds true.
O12: Omega Final Form --> Having gone through all the possible computations and variations and taking all that data it has collected from all the fights it evolves/modifies itself into what it believes is the best and most powerful form and tries to terminate you, the test subjects as you no longer have a reason to exist for Omega.
Anywho, just my thoughts and yeah no Sephiroth needed as we had Nael and Zenos already... ^_^

With all these predictions...I think this is the only time I've wished that a raid would continue on passed the 3rd and Final tier. So much potential for great nostalgic fights! I think we'd need at least around 7 tiers to sate me...

This, though.
I personally prefer VIII and XI to VII (or VI, TBH), and would love to see some famous set pieces and bosses remade with the same care as these ones from VI.
The idea of Ultimecia's final form in a savage mode with a remix of The Extreme playing in the background makes me squeak a bit. Though I think having players permanently removed from the fight if you wait to long to revive them might be just a bit too savage.
But, VII is the bigger game, and it has equally amazing parts we could see here. One Winged Angel, yo.

While you are right. This isn't like those other games where they are designed with the intention of him as a villain you'll fight or at the very least a possibility. Yes things from FFVII have been done to death, but let me put it this way. The Omega Raid we currently have might be the only opportunity for things like this to happen ever again in FFXIV. So you realise this Omega Raid situation is somewhat more important than whatever other games did. And if it doesn't happen, which may well come to pass, it will be a serious missed opportunity.
Also this being a MMO, it's fun to share and joke with other players about nostalgic things while you are in the midst of battle. Very unlike any single player experience, which most of the Sephiroth encounters have been. Honestly, this Omega Raid is just "fun" and developers shouldn't hold back and players shouldn't hold back either!
Don't do it Devs, don't let us kill Omega too soon! #LetOmegaLive #LOL

I'd LIKE to see FFIV represented for the final chapter, mainly because then this expansion's raids would be an homage to the SNES-era games. It would also be awesome to see the Four Elemental Archfiends as one of the battles. I will admit, however, that as much as folks are badmouthing Sephiroth in this thread, there's no question that Zemus/Zeromus has WAY flimsier a characterization than Sephy does. They don't even introduce Zemus until near the end of the game, barely establish him as genocidal (albeit, in order to claim an in habited planet for his own people), and that's about it - and Zeromus is basically a Giant Space Flea from Nowhere. Sephiroth may be an insane momma's boy with delusions of godhood, but at least he had an origin story.
I could easily see it go either way. One thing's very likely, though - Omega itself is likely to be the final battle. That means that whatever game gets its homage, there will be only three fights instead of four (or, less likely but still possible, Omega will be a fifth fight). I guess if you're only in it cuz OMG SEPHY, then it doesn't really matter whether there's two or three lead-up fights.
