Thank you very much, i was very much unwilling to give up so many hours of RP and the events we do and was in total panic! I was not going to buy more houses anyway 2 fc houses are enough for the RP - Puh... I think I need some fresh air now.

While it's nice to know that people can't just buy up in lots just to resell, I can't help but feel like SE completely forgot ( or even ignored the incident ) till right before the patch, and decided to put the duct tape on instead of actually taking a look at the issue. I know this is something that Yoshi initially mentioned they were going to address around 2.4, and here we are in 4.2 and its still feels like Damage control as usual without much effort put into it in the end.
As others have already noted, and from what I've seen, the many that don't own homes already were desperately making new FC's JUST to ensure they'd get a house, which given how many people were trying to get houses to begin w/ in 4.1 means there probably won't be a lot to pick from once FC's get their fill. Heck thanks to the announcement, house property skyrocketed in value as people raced to sell houses towards the middle of it with the notion that they were probably going to disable it, given how many houses sold on Reddit. Though to clarify I don't mean everyone, but a good chunk.
In the end, those that came before us that got theirs lucked out, though for the remainder ( after FC battles ) its back to Yoshi's initial statement " Housing is an exotic feature not everyone should have "
I know it's pointless to rant but felt I'd share the understanding w/ others as well. Actions speak louder than words anyways.

The problem with ignorance is that it picks up confidence as it goes along~

Housing in this game is absurd, the devs seems to be out of touch with the situation and the players, they basically make so that whoever already has a house are guarateed a shirogane one, and who dont have , well, "houses arent supossed to everyone" (so why even bother to add more wards?) this patch shows perfectly, its band aids on top of band aids and no definitive solutions, new glamour system is just flawed, balancing is a joke, but heyy we got
a pretty ui for perform....right now im trying to motivate myself and my friends to keep playing.
Its not only housing, its many small wrong moves, and the comparisons to other mmos make the game look bad but the memories we all have here are too strong.
Why is everyone so focused on Shirogane? There are plenty of us that own houses in other wards, and like our other wards better. Heck, my boyfriend is planning on relocating from Mist to Goblet. Just because you like Shirogane, doesn't mean all the rest of us want to live there.

Frankly, their "one FC/one person house per account per world" was a much debated argument (and agreed upon by some players) from the housing forums as a consequence of the failed 4.1 housing launch. So yes, they do stay in touch of the forums, however, they perhaps value the ease of quick fixes more. As players speculate deeper into 4.2 housing changes, potential loopholes and unsatisfactory conditions are found, namely ways to abuse shell FCs and (for me) existing players being grandfathered in.
I strongly agree with the term "band-aids" though, and as I have mentioned in other threads, I suppose the view that no true solution can be made unless the current housing system is being rebuilt from ground up (i.e. instanced housing).

Thank you. Very happy my alt gets to keep her old small house in the goblet. Everyone shouldn't be penalized for those abusing the system by reselling or hoarding. I never had interest in shirogane. This thread is hilarious.Greetings,
Yoshida mentioned during the Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XLI that the rules being added in Patch 4.2 will be applicable to new purchases only. Players who already possess more than one FC estate and 1 personal estate per world will not lose their existing housing.
We appreciate all the feedback shared so far and will continue to pass your thoughts along to the dev. team!

So if someone has themselves in an FC and 3 alts does that constitute as 4 members? Just curious as I've seen this mentioned on Reddit...

There's nothing to indicate that it wouldn't work. The little housing page they released didn't specify that the other 3 members needed to be on, say, different service accounts nor that they had to be of a specific level to qualify.
