Launching Issue

I started having issues last week with trying to launch FFXIV. Whenever I hit play, it launches a black screen. This results in freezing my computer and having to restart. Occasionally I can get in the game, but I have around 10-15 fps. I have reinstalled, and this has not fixed the issue. I have closed every program running in my background. When I was finally able to log in once, I changed to window mode from fullscreen and have been able to get in more often, but still with bad fps lag. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably heat related throttling of the cpu and/or gpu would be my best guess.

Has anything changed on your PC that coincides with this error? Can you describe the black screen? Does your entire monitor go black, or is it just the launcher? Is this when you first open the launcher or after you sign in?
