Thanks guys, that did help me out were to go next. Though still wondering about the stats cap of what I should be with that when I get to the end of it and what Materia should I put on my gear?

For stats the generally accepted "threshold to aim for" is 1050 gathering, 1200 perception and 700 GP. You can't reach this without melding if you're wearing crafted gear (I don't know what stats the yellow scrip gear provides if you wear the whole set and Ariyala's site isn't working right for me ATM)

For 70 I agree with you and you cannot reach that with yellow scrip gear.
