I'm confused about low level jewelry (earrings, necklaces, rings) and stats.

    Hello,

actually I'm wearing earrings (and rings/necklaces) who provide +1 to STR, DEX, VIT, INT, Mind and Piety (item level 5). Now I often got quest rewards which offer earrings that provide just +1 STR/DEX/Direct Hit or +1 INT/Mind/Direct Hit.

The question is: Is +1 Direct Hit important? Because to me it seems like the items with +1 to all six stats seem more balanced? (I also switch classes around a lot, haven't found the right class for me so far.)

Also I don't know if it's important, but at the moment my levels vary between 26 (Gladiator) and 10 (Thaumaturge), while the other classes are 12 - 23.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

They tell me DT music sounds a lot like Jazz. Meanwhile I'm sick and tired of the conventional fixed style jazz. (I'm just making a pun here...)

    Hello,

Vit is the only universal (primary) stat that affects all jobs, STR/DEX/INT/MND are job-specific. STR/DEX for example has no use for CNJ, THM, and ACN so the +1 boost is redundant for these jobs. Therefore, having your relevant primary stat boosted and then secondary ones (Direct hit, determination, critical hit, spell/skill-speed, tenacity/piety) is preferable to +1 to all stats. Direct hit is currently the go-to stat for damage boost, so it's always a nice addition. But even if it were to be other secondary stats, these are generally better options. As a side note, you can see which stat affects what job from the info tooltip when you click on the said stat.

I hope this explanation helps, but please do let me know if it's unclear or if you have further question. Welcome to Eorzea, I hope the game has been enjoyable for you so far

    Main stats:
STR: PGL MNK LNC DRG SAM (gla pld mrd war drk)
DEX: ARC BRD ROG NIN MCH
INT: THM BLM ACN SMN RDM
    MND: CNJ WHM SCH AST

VIT increases HP for everyone but is only relevant for tanks and day 1 raiders.

As you level, use the highest iLv accessories that boost your main stat. For a while, STR/DEX will be paired and INT/MND will be paired so that Disciples of War can share accessories and Disciples of Magic can share accessories, but around the 40s they'll start being separated into single main stats by role. Each point of main stat is worth several points of secondaries (determination, crit, direct hit, speed). Once you get to 70 and there are several options that are all the max iLv, you can worry about which secondary stats to pick over others.

Just a single '+1' won't matter much one way or the other.
The Weathered jewelry that characters start with these days (that give +1 to STR, DEX, VIT, INT, MND and Piety) are actually a fairly recent addition to the game.
Before that the quest rewards would often be the first pieces of jewelry characters got.

So im gonna let you in on a little secret, as a goldsmith. As much as we might tell you otherwise, at lower levels jewelry doesnt matter much. The best level 49 jewelry will give you 6 points to your important stat instead of the 1 you have now. Thats not a huge upgrade. Level 50 is where the first real boost to jewelry strength happens(up to 23 points to your stat). So i wouldnt worry about it too much. Your armor and weapon matter much more.

As for your other question, no +1 to a secondary stat isnt really important. You could test for hours and not notice a difference from 1 DH(or crit or whatever else). Secondary stats matter when you get a good amount of them, so for now look at this as practice for later.

Ah, I thought that must be the case! It's a fair way into the game before you even start getting +1 direct hit or whatever, before that the jewellery just gives you two of the six +1 stats you've already got on the weathered gear, so seems completely pointless. It doesn't make sense to design it that way, so I figured the better starting gear must have been added later without adjusting the other items.

While a great many will say it wont matter much... +1 is far better than 0

If you got an empty slot..stick it in there until you find something better.
