When we first met Pippin, and he called Raubahn his father, my thought was "OH MY GOD RAUBAHN HAD A CHILD WITH THE SULTANA?"

Nero's used unique combat animations twice now, both from his hammer in his boss fight and recently with his gunblade in OMEGA. There's nothing to read into it beyond it makes more sense for Pipin to hold that huge (to him) sword out.

Plus, he was raised and heavily trained in the gladiator ring before rising in the eanks of the Flames. He's more likely to have been exposed and worked with all sorts of combat styles as part of his job.
