Account Penalties Decrease after Each year (add as a rule)

    https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes.../blog/3684469/
    (full colour version)

Ffxiv should add a rule were if the player doesn't break any rules at all
for a year their penalty status should start decreasing with each passing year
and start going back to a clean account.

    Warning
This is only to be implemented for player i.e have used profanity/racism/harassment/
lot of players feel reluctant to continue or buying future expansions
or even level their character as some of them are in a red state when their account is terminated they would lose everything.the character, the levelling ,their money its like walking on egg shells. I want players to redeem themselves to continue to be part of the ffxiv community

Not for RMT or using BOTs these players deserve no 2nd chance as they are directly involved to exploit the game.

Lets be honest here....if you go that far and that deep into trouble...you kind of asked for it.

Maybe a GM would be so kind as to elaborate how it works?

    Greetings!

On the Lodestone, under "Help & Support", you can find a "Rules & Policies" link (NA/EU). On this page, there is the Account Penalty Policy (NA/EU), which details account penalties and their progression.

I hope this information helps to facilitate a more specific discussion, since the links had not yet appeared in the thread.

Yeah, all these sound super reasonable. I doubt this comes down to using certain vulgar terms. I think it really comes down to if you misbehave over and over again and direct those vulgar terms towars other people. I don’t think it is so hard to understand that just like in real life you don’t go into a crowded space, scream profanities or let out your frustrations at a person or persons, and expect not to be given a warning, citation, or even be arrested for disturbing the peace. Keep going it, and eventually the consequences of being a jerk add up, and the people hosting you will eventually throw you out.

Square Enix isn’t your Mom. They are not here to coddle you and tell you “oh, you’ll learn to be more polite.” You aren’t a lovable child. You are a quest in their space and if you keep being a rude guest, they’ll stop inviting you to the party or ask you to leave.

And in certain cultures, such type of speech can even have your buisness penalized, such as paying fines to Germany or having your ESRB rating increased, or even internet controversy and parents boycotting the game for their teens for not being able to keep youth away from bad content. Square Enix is located in Japan, a culture built on honor and respect. Understand that.

[snip] You’re not gonna like what I say, but I’m gonna say it regardless because I want Square Enix to hear the other side.

Nope you usually get 3 chances before you are perma banned and if people does get to that point then they 100% deserved it.

From what I've heard, you actually have more leeway then just "mess up 3 times, you're out"

AFAIK they give you a bunch of chances unless you are a really bad offender with a first time perma ban in which case you probably deserved it. Not to say GMs don't make mistakes but IMO they are pretty lenient. I mean if they give players a bunch of strikes and they screwed up again more than once after being warned that is kind of on the player at that point.

Letting strikes drop after a certain period of time would just make it so offenders can break the rules again if they felt like it which kind of makes it pointless. If it is really 3 chances for normal cases that is enough. There is still a buffer in between where players can correct themselves.

Ya know, if you weren't a jerk in the first place, this wouldn't even be an issue...

Not exactly. Even casual profanity is worthy of a warning. Not all swearing is hurting anyone.

Casual profanity is against the rules of the game though. So in SE's eyes, it's hurting people. And given this is Square Enix, a Japanese company, as in based in a country where honour and respect is so deeply entrenched into the culture it is literally an extension of them, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

    3.3 Profanity and Offensive Language.
You may not use profanity or any language that a reasonable person would find offensive. The Game is for players aged 16 and older except players who are resident in Germany, Australia or New Zealand where the Game is for players aged 12 and older. You agree to behave accordingly.
Bear in mind this will be Japanese interpretation of "reasonable person", which I imagine is way stricter than the EU/NA interpretation of it.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
