Mysidia: When and How will it show up?

Let's try something different. The forums here have gone pretty grim lately. So let's discuss something instead. For a change it will not involve kitsune, vampires or necromancers. Or all three.

This time I want to discucc the city of Mysidia.

As you may or may not know Mysidia is the only city name that appears in multiple Final Fantasy games that otherwise have nothing to do with each other. II. IV, Dimensions, Brave Exvius, Chocobo Racing. And in several other games you can bump into the Mysidian Rabbit (or Rabbit Medium as it is called in FFXIV).

TL;DR: it is THE Final Fantasy location. For this reason I am convinced that it will appear in FFXIV as well at some point. Since it has always been the center of magical studies it could tie in with Blue Mage if we ever get them playable.


Sharlayan is also a likely suspect but the similarity in name makes me think of Meracydia as well.

This also begs other questions. Will it be a city? A town? A dungeon? A raid? An entire zone? Or a whole region?

I think it would be a city-state in either Meracydia, in Thavnair or in a region in the empire near the boundary of Gyr Abania.

here i thought that meracydia was the referance to Mysidia, simmilar to how Garlamald is a form of Garland which tends to appear in most final fantasies

Hhhmmm..., my understanding is Meracydia is a large continent to the south, so it can probably have city-states one of which is named Mysidia...

i ment it by name, since it is a city in other final fantasies while in this one it might be the whole island.

tbh i would love to go to that southern island to visit the land of the dragons.

I hope they’d be able to do as much content to cover all continents in Hydealyn.

Most likely yes. But that doesn't mean the actual Mysidia can't show up. Preferrably with the same music from IV

I want more Allagan stuff. I want to enter into another Allagan territory like Azys Lla, or an underground Allagan metropolis. They can be in Meracydia or wherever actually. Since they were able to lift Dalamud and put it into orbit, maybe an Allagan base in the moon?
