A question about the Novice Network / playtime.

    Hello,

I just read on a wiki that you can only use the Novice Network when you have less than 168 hours of playtime.

Now I have been playing around with a lot of different races and classes and haven't really made much progress, however I have already accumulated a total of 183 hours playtime accountwide; my question now is if that 168 hour restriction is account wide or on a per character base? I.E. are my characters with less than 168 hours playtime (which would be all, so far) still eligible for the Novice Network?

    Thanks in advance.

p.s.: Sorry for my probably bad english, it's not my native language.

    Fairly certain it's character-wide.

It's hours of playtime for each individual character, not account wide.

    Ah okay, thanks.

Now I just need to overcome my shyness and actually ask around ... still, thanks a lot.

It would make sense for it to be account-wide, but Jill is correct: it's per character. More importantly, though, this is just one of TWO conditions for the revocation of new adventurer status. The other is quest progress. You can indefinitely retain new adventurer status, regardless of play time, until you complete all of the main scenario quest prior to Stormblood's first quest (which is one of many level 60 quests in the series).

And of course access to the novice network is also granted via returner and mentor statuses.

I believe if you type /nastatus it will turn off New Adventurer status off. It was like that back in 2.0, not sure if it has changed.

I totally just realized your post wasn't about New Adventurer status lol. Sorry about that, ignore me!

It is though. The requirement for accessing the novice channel is new adventurer status, returner status, or mentor status.

The /nas command can de-leaf someone. It can also re-leaf if still eligible for new adventurer status. The status wears off on its own after completion of 3.56 and accumulation of 7 days /ptime on the character.

As far as I know it's a combination of both 7 days (168 hours) playing time, and having completed the main scenario for both ARR + Heavensward. Provided you don't complete Heavensward you will be in Novice Network for a fairly long time, if not indefinitely if you wish. I'm up around 240-264 hours on my alt character and it still has access.
