I really want there to be a sword equipping job that isn't specifically (or at all) a tank.

But with the current way jobs are connected to classes, I think there is going to have to be a "greatsword" or "scythe" class first. Remember with the armory system, we have to have a certain item that tells us what class/job we are. Having a greatsword would mean a new class I think.

The paladin is not a paladin but simply "knight" in Japanese, so it's the localization team that lead you astray.
