    Glamour System Update specification

    Hi, Devs/Forum members.

I had a couple questions regarding the upcoming changes to the Glamour System.
    1. Will the glamour sets be different per Job, regardless of if they share the same base gear?
(EX. if both a WHM and a SCH share a set of Genji Gear, could they both have different glamour sets?)
    2. Can items, which could be previously stored in an Armoire, be used for Glamour sets and still be placed back in the Armoire (so as not to use the limited space of the new Glamour box)?
    3. Can we put multiple colours of the same Glamour piece in the boxes?

Thank you guys for your help, answers, and discussion.

    1. Apparently yes. That seems to be half the point of this new system.
    2. It's not super clear, but during the last live letter when the system was being explained, it was suggested that you could just add armoire stuff straight on to a glamour plate. No need to take it out first.
    3. It seems the key is the glamour plates. They manage what pieces are glamoured to what and with which dye. So you could have 10 plates all the same outfit, all different colors if you really wanted to.

Bear in mind this could all be wrong as I'm working with incomplete information.

    Cheers.

I have a follow-up question which might be a dumb question but: Does anyone know if this is a replacement or an addition to the old system? i.e. will we still be able to glamour directly from one normal, non-glamour-item piece of gear to another? I ask mainly because of the Eternity Ring item. You need that in your inventory to teleport to your spouse, you can't exactly just poof it into a glamour item or you'd lose that entire mechanic :/ Plus for multiple jobs that share gear, it'd help with Glamour Plate space if you can directly glamour the gear set for one job, then put a plate over it for the other(s).

Based just on what basic info we have so far, it sounds something like this.

You use glamour prisms to add gear to your dresser. * In innroom only.
You assign dressered gear to special dresser gearsets called "plates".
You "apply" the plate to change your appearance. * Anywhere. Slash command available.
Optionally, overwrite single slots by applying glamours to items in the pre-4.2 way.

So you could BLM, apply a plate containing a black outfit, switch to RDM with the same gear, and apply a plate containing a red outfit.

This is, of course, just interpretation of an incomplete picture. Maybe they'll talk more about it at the next PLL.

Not a dumb question. This is one of the things we are certain about. They have explicitly stated that the old system will remain in place for those who want to use it for singular items.

The role restrictions will still remain, but you’ll also be able to create macros which can swap ensembles along with gear set macros.

You can make ensembles of specific parts of a set of gear, and also apply regular glamours as usual.

Dyes can be applied per ensemble.

Certain items, such as those that can be stored in the armoire, does not need to be converted to glamours.

Now that this is implemented, I feel it is no better than it was before, with the exception of clearing out some pack space. This is not at ALL what I, and others were hoping for. Example: I play all three tanks. I want all three to have a unique look. I create three separate glamour plates. I change to each tank and apply the glamour I would hope to achieve, so each time I switch to a tank class, there is my glamour setup.

    Wrong.

You get ONE. That's it. If I apply a glam to my PLD, then switch to DRK, it reverts the armor back to base. It doesn't keep the glamour you applied. It's frankly a bad system, and needs to be re-thought.

No, you can have different sets shown on the same set of gear. You have to select which plate you want. It doesn't automatically do it for you.

The new glamour system is a shortcut to the traditional glamouring, nothing more or less. You can have different look for your three tanks, but it needs you to a) put all the glamour items to glamour storage or use armoire items. B) create one plate for each of your tank job and C) apply the correct one each time you change job. That's is because what the new system does, is just apply the plate's content to your gear exactly as if you applied it by hand. And for different jobs, it just offers shortcut to what you could do before, appply a new glamour every time you switch jobs. Why your glamour liked to be reverted is because you might have use artifact (DRK only) gear for the glamour, and normal behaviour is to show the default armor look if the current class can't wear the glamour item.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.
