Regula Van Hydrus - Ceruleum (blue) mage?

So, back in the Regula fight in the Nacelle, we saw him using what could be described as magic, cast by using Ceruleum, with Blue Mage being a possible 5.0 job, and 5.0 being set in Garlemald, might we see a Blue Mage job that uses Ceruleum to power their spells?

Would be an interesting spin on a magitek based job but It would probably be an unnecessary detail since we can use aether.

I'm not sure how they would implement that kind of combination, though I'm definitely not saying it's impossible. It would be interesting, at any rate. Though I don't believe it's quite set in stone yet that 5.0 will be set in Garlemald, so it's a bit early to speculate on a 5.0 Magitek-based class based on that. But in any case when we do get to Garlemald it could still be viable.

I'm curious is this is just another of Garlemald's "It does the same thing as magic but without magic so we've triumphed over magic!" faux-magicks. Recall that Gaius van Baelsar was able to forge a large X out of ceruleum vapor/plasma/whatever and send that flying at you; Regula's tek seems to be able to make something more articulate ... but not quite. Notice how it just stands there even though it uses "Enkindle" as if to show you they've "triumphed over arcanima" and created a "familiar".

Though a blue mage that doesn't use magicks and the color is based on ceruluem - certainly points for originality.

It could work with the theme of blue mage rather nicely. Instead of learning enemy abilities by getting hit by them/ eating monsters, you learn enemy abilities by stealing Garlean tech.

i remember yoshida saying that we will have a jobs with a gunblade at some point when we will get close of the empire, maybe it will be the blue mage weapon. it will make sense that the blue mage is coming from the magitek since they use technic of monster and the magitek is the best way to emulate magic.

Would probably ruffle some feathers but ehi I'm down with this, frankly speaking it's never explicitly stated how blue magic really works in how it copies enemy skills so why not with a ceruleum based gizmo?

I think it would be very different to what most people would expect of a Blue Mage but it would be an interesting take.

*Puts on baseless lore crafting hat*

Regula was a fan of old Garlean sword fighting techniques. So imagine if the technique he use came from the evolution of an older garlean technique that was one of the garlean fighters early attempts at countering magic?

Imagine if they found a way to use a crystal or something to absorb Aether from enemy attacks or potentially syphon it off their enemies and store it in a crystal.

Then imagine if they discovered a way to capture a imprint of the Aetheric pattern created by Aetheric based attacks(magic). They found spells cast by magics created 'fuzzy' patterns due to the intentional and refined method of casting and as such the imprint couldn't effectively replicate the spell using the Aether from the crystal. However they found instinctive Aetheric attacks, such as magic used by beasts and monsters, created a much more precise imprint and these imprints would be collected to allow the user to replicate those attacks using the Aether they had syphoned. Later the Garleans refined this technique, replacing the need to capture Aether and used Cerulium as a power source instead and magitech to record the Aetheric patterns.

My little fanfic for the day.

one its way to early to be heading off the garlemald. Two Let us say the magic is fuel by ceruleum. I will not dismiss the thought of cerulem being used. I would call that type of magic quite volatile due to ceruleums explosive nature. I'll stick with the tried and true magics of destruction and burning faux magic or magitek to ash.
