First off, it should have either a long lockout after using it or it should be tied to the mogstation.

This is what I was thinking - I wouldn't mind it being a paid service so that the chances of it being abused in any way are small. I think if it was an ingame only service (no mogstation), then it has the potential to cause some damage, which is something that I'd like to avoid!

They have trouble with clearing flags for progressing thru MSQ. This is part of the reason why we cannot currently re do MSQ instance duties.

Hmm a Reset Level (and Reset Story) would be cool for people who wish to do that.

Though you still wouldn't get a true new adventurer feel unless you reset or self-abstain from certain other things. Without using a new alt that means you'll have all your resources to acquire good gear early, something many new adventurers do not have (except for when the game hands it to you). You wouldn't have, as a low level, to worry about whether your chocobo will be useful (like when a new person gets one, puts dps skills, then realizes what they really need is the healer skills but don't have the ability/seals to buy the chocobo skill reset yet and get stuck with their choice).

So unless you're willing to reset your chocobo's skills to imitate that of a new player AND not use any gear (other than for glamour) AND purposefully put away all your gil so that you can start from fresh and act like you're brand new (and spend all your tomes/seals/other currencies), you will not truly get that new adventurer feel.

I know in certain areas I'd still have a bit of an advantage - I'd likely end up losing the company chocobo (no license!) so I could see that getting reset too.... But until they make things like legacy tattoo and mogstation purchases account-wide or transferable, this is likely the closest thing that I will get

As for gear... Dungeon gear til 70! haha D: Setting my gil on a retainer wouldn't be a bad idea- I hardly spend it as it is D:

This difficulty I can see if people are wanting to re-do msq instances, but maintain their progress throughout the rest of the msq that follows, but I'm hoping that completely wiping the slate clean and starting from the first quest will be a little different. I can't say this with certainty though; I work in medical, not IT

its not somethign forgin to final fantasy and i think it could be used. Dissidia final fantasy allowed the player to lower there own level from 100 to 1.

as for story the only way i can see that one is to buy a item or have a out of the way (to avoid people from accidentally doing this) to reset the flags on the system, if that is possible. i imagen some flags in the system are hard coded into some items. and they are easier to mark done then mark undone.

None of my achievements, none of the mounts/minions I'd either earned or bought on the mogstation that weren't account wide (those mounts that are account-wide are very few and far between....), and none of the glamour items/hairstyles too that aren't cheap... those $15~20 sets add up... (I just love the Y'shtola hair!)

The idea is nice and all, but there was a similar question asked a few live letters ago and Yoshi p's response was "make a new character"

So my guess is that would be the response we'd get for this.

I wouldn't mind a story reset set by Job. Then you could level your alt Jobs naturally along the path you used on your main Job, and still have the progress on your main Job. If you made it so it had to be reset intentionally instead of automatically applying to all Jobs under a given level, then you could play through the story again on one alt Job but then have useful dungeons available for other Jobs if you wanted to utilize some of the current methods of leveling alt Jobs instead.

To the folks that would reply "But you can level an alt! You get 8 characters per server~!" I know, I know... But until those 8 characters per server get access to everything extra that I had bought, or even myshiny legacy tattoo I will feel like my character could never be my main. It'd always irk me, and I'm not willing to shell out over $100 to re-buy things that I believe should have been account-wide in the first place, but that's a topic for another time^^;;

I'm going to preface this with :
Your idea has merit and I have nothing against it should SE decide to make it available for people to do. It impacts me literally zero amount, and logically I have no arguments against this being put into place.


that being said (lord, how many mean things start with this) , your only real argument against using what's in place is your own brains hangups against having stuff you've "earned" on your old character, on this new character. If you really want to experience the adventure again, running the story from 1 to 70 on a brand new character should fulfill 99% of your criteria. That stuff is still there, will always be there on your old character and should you really want to continue the new characters "story" once you've gotten your alt to 70 or whatever goal you set, you can fantasia your old character and continue the narrative in your mind.


to sum up: the experience is available to you within current game options and overcoming your own hangup will probably come before SE implements a solution for you.
