Mount up for the situation!

I'd rather not mount up the Situation.

I think it would be a good idea, but make it so it's to get to certain high level Aetherites maybe? That way if you don't want to get the mount yourself, just get a friend who has it to port you there.

That or just sight seeing or alternate XP / farming camps.

All non-chocobo mounts should have specific roles, ie to pass special areas.

One of the main reasons I'm opposed to this haphazard implementation of this Goobbue mount is because SE missed a golden opportunity to really make new mounts mean something more than a Chocobo model-swap gimmick.

Some possibilities:

• A shack near a swamp where players could rent Goobbue Mounts to cross
• Magitek for cold areas
• Drakes for volcano type zones
• Large bird mounts (like Roc) for flying through mountain passes
• Submarine for deep sea exploration
• Boat for traveling up river...
• Ahriman for underground chasms

Players could either rent the mounts in the region for which they are used, or better yet, fulfill a quest by which they would be able to use them for free.

Most living mounts could leave their respective areas but the rental timers and perhaps natural limitations outside their preferred terrain would limit their use.

For everything else, a wide variety of Chocobos with a large assortment of armor and gear for the birds.

I think it would be cool and very Final Fantasy-like if these mounts we are getting actually served a purpose for certain parts of the map. Take the Gobbue for instance. A tall mount would be great for walking in water or swampy areas. A Drake would be able to get through certain tempratures i.e. fire areas. The floating eye would assist us in getting across those small gaps we can't access.

These are obviously just examples but I think these are great ideas for the mounts coming are way. Give us a reason to use them, to obtain them. Have a purpose for them other than getting us from point A to B that we have already discovered both on foot and on Chocobo a million times. Bring significance to each new mount with a means of assisting us to get to areas we couldnt get to with a previous mount.
