Mount up for the situation!

I don't want to be rquired to have a certain mount by a party or the general gameplay just to do something.

Who said you'd necessarily be required to by a party? Exploration is handled solo most of the time. Also, it can serve to access shortcuts and special places with lore on Eorzea or side-stories.

You are already required by parties to be X class, have Y gear and put your points in Z stats to be at the top for endgame content and Primal fights.
If you don't feel bound by that, why would you for exploration?

It's not a stupid idea, it's a great idea and that's for sure. People handle the features stupidly, there is a difference.

But to only use said mount for a specific region? I want to ride the mount I like the best for all over the place, not where it's required.

And I highly doubt this would work since they've already but a lot of time and effort into the new maps they are making.. but to add specific mounts to go beyond certain points or to make it easier? I thought that was the point of a mount to begin with.

Also, you have to remember that if they would make (like how a lot of people want) for gobbues to resist more damage taken than chocobos, you would be "OP" in the future when others don't have that mount. They added this mount to reward players for staying as a cosmetic feature, not for you to be better or have better mounts than others.

I would really like terrain specific mounts- points for immersion. Of course, I'm also a nerd for the concept of geomancer with abilities that change based on where you're standing, weather, etc...

They simply cannot implement what you're asking for, since Goobbue mounts are just for us pre-2.0 players. It would be completely unfair for the other people unless it were some place just for the scenery of it. But there'd be jealousy and all that rabblerabble.

So... no. Chocobos, fine. But not with Goobbues.

This isnt a bad idea but... I personally would not support this idea. The fact is players should beable to go anywhere in the game that is allowed by the programers. Now not everyone will decide to get specific mounts and players should not be made to do so, just to go to what-ever-area it is. Just like the goobue mount I myself will get it to have it but never use it, other than when I first get it to just try it out. Content should be made avaiable to everyone. Missions and exspansion are a different story for a pre-req but to actually have to have a specific mount, I prefer that FFXIV not go that route. In closeing this is why I say the developers should add a survey and the answeres can be only a yes or a no. Players want all this stuff added because they believe it will be fun or enjoyable but in the end when it is actually done it isnt what it was cracked up to be.
