Mount up for the situation!

I think it would be cool and very Final Fantasy-like if these mounts we are getting actually served a purpose for certain parts of the map. Take the Gobbue for instance. A tall mount would be great for walking in water or swampy areas. A Drake would be able to get through certain tempratures i.e. fire areas. The floating eye would assist us in getting across those small gaps we can't access.

These are obviously just examples but I think these are great ideas for the mounts coming are way. Give us a reason to use them, to obtain them. Have a purpose for them other than getting us from point A to B that we have already discovered both on foot and on Chocobo a million times. Bring significance to each new mount with a means of assisting us to get to areas we couldnt get to with a previous mount.

What does everyone think of this?

Personally I don't see the point of it, your just creating a system where these new mounts will be manditory and serve no purpose outside of their pre-designed purpose.

Then again I like being able to explore everywhere on foot instead of mounting a giant eyeball to cross a gap.

The maps in the PDF have chocobo shortcuts and shortcuts you can only do on foot. So, this wouldn't be a stretch, really.

Also, I like the idea for something relating to the gobbues or other potential mounts themselves. Extending on your suggestion, an area where there is a gobbue camp in which only they can reach. So, in order to get there you call one to assist you!

Glad to know people are not allowed to have opinions. Just because I don't agree with it doesn't mean I shun it, I just don't think it would be implemented in the exact way people imagine it would.

Chances are it would end up becoming more of a chore than it sounds, a one time novelty where you say "Aww damn it was so cool I needed a goobue to cross this swamp.

Next week we will see people complaining that needing to be mounted while crossing marshes is obtuse and leaves the player unable to do ____. It's always good to note that alot of stuff sounds great on paper but doesn't translate well in implementation in the long run.

Then again...god damn them people with opinions that are different from me! I should round them all up and do something like put them in a special "Camp" maybe I'll call it...Aushwitz.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad to see how you feel about that. Especially since you posted the exact same thing twice in another thread. Real insight to your feelings.

On topic, it would be cool... but at the same time not so good. I don't want to be rquired to have a certain mount by a party or the general gameplay just to do something. I also think just having a diversity in the types of mounts we get is enough, let a long using one for a specific reason than riding it all the time to begin with.
