Unable to connect to Japanese Data Centre - Error 2002

As the title suggests I'm unable to connect to the Japanese Data Centre.
No issues trying to connect to NA or EU Data Centres or servers.

I have opened the suggested ports on my modem, didn't work.
I even changed the modem to DMZ, didn't work.
I have used a VPN to connect to a Japanese server, didn't work.

My Main character is on Elemental/Tonberry.

I've been away for a couple of years and have been dealing with this for 3 days now.

Any help appreciated.

Can you elaborate on the kind of issue you are having?

Please provide:

- Platform (PC, PS4, Mac)
- Type of connection (wired or wireless)
- Other programs running while the game is playing (if any)
- Frequency at which disconnect occurs

Are you located in the US or somewhere closer to Japan? If you're able to connect to the NA data center and not the JP, it would seem that you may be closer to the US than JP in which you should always connect to the closest data center to you. Anything else is asking for trouble, especially with the recent upspring of DDoS attacks, that aren't really hitting FFXIV servers themselves, but the traffic nodes in between users and the data center. Please be aware that SE can't remedy the DDoS attacks on ISP nodes. They can only wait until they get bored and move on or until the ISP physically cuts the culprits cord.
