Cosmetic gear

Just like the title says I want this option in the game, I want to be able to look like I'm wearing Monk JSE, but actually have Dark-Light armor on. Can i have this please?

Would like to know if they have this plan in the feature for 2.0 or a few months after release, or if they are even thinking about implementing this in the game.

I would love to have this ability. It would help people grow more attached to their characters, and it gives some life to older and lower level content at least in the sense that people would come back to get gear for re-skinning what they have now.

However, I would still like classes and jobs to keep both their functional and visual identity. You should not be able to change your appearance to gear that you would not normally be able to use with your current class or job.

I'm generally in favor of the idea.
The problem lies in the idea of a monk wearing black mage gear would just be kinda off. Which could be fixed with some simple restrictions to what job or class can wear what to preserve continuity of style.

I mean you can only lock in gear your class/job can wear its the same way it works in other mmos. I can have other class gear on me but can't lock it in cause i cant equip said gear in the first place.

its called dat swapping and has been done in XI for years. only you can see the changes tho.

I think this is a brilliant idea. .Dat swapping is not an alternative, it was only something people did in FFXI since the gear we were forced to use was often horribly ugly and mismatched.

Cosmetic/Fashion slots are a staple in many modern MMOs and could work excellently in FFXIV.

All you need is certain limitation. That if a piece of gear is to be worn as a cosmetic item, it will still have the equipment limitations it originally had.
That way you won't have monks running around in Black Mage gear.

It is an excellent way to make old gear and AF gear remain relevant. As time goes on, we will no doubt end up wearing horribly mismatched gear again, because of stat optimisation. With fashion slots we are able to still retain the look of our favourite gear, whether it is our AF armour, or old Raid armour or even your dinky old onion helmet.

I really hope it gets introduced into the game, I know many players would appreciate it.
