I think this was in mile stone mark that SE put it on.
1.23 you will see the battle with the white Raven as "Legatus Battle", although SE didn't mention about Darnus before, so i think he won't battle you until 2.0. (and the Ultima weapon picture also mean 2.0 too)

Anyway if you wanna know story from Uldah. We met Cid, and then Cid plan to capture White Raven.. so yes..

I think Darnus and Baelsar will fight. The power from Dalamud being so close will change their bodies to Ultima (Baelsar) and Omega (Darnus).

Cid said too that Baelsar will always be in the shadow of Darnus. Ultima is usual shadowed by Omega.

I personally got the impression that Darnus is attempting to rid Eorza of primals that are important to defending it from Dalamud. I also expect the final battle to be a bittersweet ending (similar to the ending of the Meteor attack in VII). Both the 3 Guild Companies and the 3 Beastmen Clans will unite (as was the plan of the main storyline) to summon the primals and the strength of the aether (the mages' guilds speak of an ability summon a very strong spell i can't recall what quest was involved) to counter-attack Dalamud. While the destruction of Dalamud might be successful, there will be several negative results:
    1) Dalamud will crash to the earth.
    2) The Aether being summoned to the surface will be uncontrollable and completely change the landscape of Eorza (the lore of the PDF says that the landscape's change is a result of something coming from the ground [not the sky])
    3) With Dalamud and the Garleans at a very weakened state and the 3 Guild Companies revived, a vie for power is present again. The Guild Companies will break their alliance due to an inability to settle on how the Aether should be handled and redefining boundaries.

My thing is this.. Yoshida wants to incorporate former FF titles into this one, as a cauldron of themes players of the series have grown to love and remember fondly. While still of course offering a storyline and battle environment people who dont play the series can get enjoyment out of it. But that's side tracking.

Raven keeps referring to 'Him', some entity we've not yet met, or even heard of, until now. As Cid says, he seriously doubts its 'His Radiance' the Garlean Emperor that Nael is referring too. So its a different entity.

What being, from a former FF title, could fit this role to be extremely powerful, extremely evil/manipulative and would be such a threat to the world itself to be sealed away inside a massive, moon size "prison" then cast out into space.

Are we looking at a possible reincarnation of Golbez/Zemus type of thing?

Or..for that matter. Could Nael be a reincarnation of Garland being manipulated by a being like Chaos. Since he's reference destroying everything, so that 'He' can return.

He... who is it this "He" ? Dalamud? (speak of Dalamud as a Master... not as a satellite... )

I have 2 theories even if unrealistic, but nice:

    1. Darnus after absorbing the power of Dalamud tricks Gaius The Black Wolf and turns it into Ultima Weapon, submitting to his control, and in patch 1.23 we have to fight against Ultima Weapon ..

    or maybe:

    2. Darnus becomes Omega Weapon after absorbing the power of Dalamud (or is transformed?) And Gaius in Ultima Weapon and we will fight them both. After the battle, Gaius realizes that Darnus it's a fool and sided against him to begin making a scene of fighting between Ultima and Omega ... which of course eventually win Darnus (Omega), and so begins the 2.0

More Epic point 2 but more awesome point 1 *_____*

After the last patch cutscenes.... I am beginning to think that dalamud is either a prison holding some ancient evil or perhaps a coccoon waiting to hatch some terrible beast.

Actually I was discussing this several days ago with my LS, I think that something, possibly ultima could be trapped in the meteor and released when it touches down. Even one of the concept arts, with behemoth, showed it in the background.

Darnus even confirmed after the most recent update that it was actually a sin cast up into the heavens to stay there. So Darnus could be manipulating their emperor into thinking its a good idea to use dalamud to wipe us out, but really he wants to free the one he serves, currently trapped inside.

Actually, I think he said it was sinful to try and stop his plans, because of how "righteous" they were - or whatever he was ranting on.

Either way, I honestly think you have to be blind to not see the striking resemblances between Van Darnus' outward appearance, and the "Ultima/Omega" concept art we've seen. The faces have an extremely similar appearance to them. The wings are designed almost exactly the same, with a bit of a spike at the top, tapering down to a smaller end. The way the greyish-white stone is positioned and embedded on both Darnus and the weapon is almost exactly the same. But what really sells it for me is that little neck/shoulder plating. If you look on the weapon, it curves down and spikes up. Darnus' neck/shoulder plate does the exact same thing. They have the exact same design.

Makes it hard for me to think it's just a coincidence, given the fact that Darnus even says himself that he is willing to "give up his flesh" to Dalamud. Even Cid says it's a strange new turn of events that Darnus doesn't even need the transmitter anymore, and is willing to sacrifice his life for Dalamud to achieve whatever ends he's after.

On top of considering that he refers to Dalamud as a he, I've put together a theory surrounding the whole idea of Dalamud being a prison.

So, we know the Allagan empire was far more advanced than even the Garlean empire as far as technology was concerned. Now, it's a common archetype for powerful scientific advances to be the end of advanced civilizations. Perhaps the Allagan Empire had attempted to develop an ultimate weapon, and end all be all - so that their empire and power could never be threatened. Power corrupts people after all - just look at Darnus. Now, let's say this weapon is the Ultima/Omega weapon.

Now let's also say that they manage to create this weapon, however it ends up gaining it's own sentience and turns on it's creators. It literally starts to destroy their civilization, and because they made it so powerful there's absolutely nothing they can do to stop it. It's literally destroying the world.

So what do they do? They put their minds together and agree that if they can't destroy it, they'll have to imprison it. So, Dalamud is created to trap and seal away this immense power, and they throw it out into space so that it can't do any more damage.

Now, from here either one or two things can happen with this theory. First, the unrest and distrust caused by the destruction one of their own creations caused could cause a rift between people in the empire and the tension of that distrust could cause it's eventual downfall. Or, as with Darnus, the weapon inside Dalamud could speak to and corrupt a powerful individual and they could bring about a disaster to bring down the empire.

Far fetched? Sure. But I like to think it's quite plausible. I mean, it's either something like that, or Dalamud is just a simple weapon of mass destruction built by the Allagan's for whatever reason. I like to think that there's more too it than that.

Great predictions and awesome thread. Like the everyone else, I'm also eagerly anticipating the course of events between now and 2.0... but once more, Im calling it yet again (like I did about two years ago on the FFXIVCore forums)...

...Could the Twelve actually have been Thirteen?
