Yep, seems like the Ala Mhigo were the previous Garleans (you get what I mean). But they eventually became allies because all the other nations (Ul'Dah specially) accepted their people when they ran.

Hrm... Also my GC's quest mentions nothing about the 'Allagan Tomestones', so question, also total spoilers so put it in spoiler tags please but: What do the other quests mention about them?

Hello again.

Today I completed the 2 new storyline quests on the Seventh Umbral Era, the storytelling and cutscenes were amazing as usual.
The revelations were crazy just like Nael van Darnus turned to be. Here is he, after he absorbed power from Dalamud:




It seems like my guess was correct and we'll indeed battle him in patch 1.23.

He says he will offer his own flesh to Dalamud... Could he transform into...?




If you've a keen eye you might notice a slight resemblance.

I'll gather all these new revelations in a round-up for my blog in the near future, but in the meantime I wanted to post this for all the lore-interested adventurers. Cool stuff the 7th Umbral Era, eh?

Whatever battle and in whatever will transform the Legatus of the VIIth Legion, I'm sure the final showdown with Darnus in patch 1.23 is gonna be Super Great!

WHOA! All this time we've had a theory that if the moon was a prison, it was for Odin.

But what if Van Darnus is serving the interest of Omega, sealed in Dalamud, and offers his body as a vessel for the Weapon which causes him to transform into the Ultima/Omega art we have?

Darnus is Elezen. He has the animations and underlying model of an Elezen, not a Roegadyn.

I'm surprised I didn't make the connection sooner. I think we can be 99.9% positive that the weapon is Van Darnus. I almost want to say Baelsar gets roped into the transformation as well, though that seems highly unlikely considering both his opposition to Van Darnus's plans, and the fact that he's been seen on 2.0 concept art. They're kind of setting him up to be initial main villain in 2.0.

Unless it is both of them, and the transformation is somehow reversed after we defeat them.

Anyways, the wings on the weapon's back are almost a carbon copy of Van Darnus's wings on his helmet. It's head bears an incredibly striking resemblence to Darnus's helmet, and the red eyes match Darnus's once he went batshit insane. Plus, to top it off, he has the big gemstone embedded in his chest that both the Legatus's have on their armor. There's no mistaking it.

Now, the reason I say Baelsar as well is due to two things - the rear half of the head of the weapon has horns that look very similar to the horns on Baelsar's helmet, and if you look at it's neck, he has a bit of plating that's reminiscent of Baelsar's (and Darnus's, I guess) armor, even the color scheme is the same.

The first one is started in your own Grand Company and after finishing it, the second one opens in Jagged Crest Cave.

But what if Van Darnus is serving the interest of Omega, sealed in Dalamud, and offers his body as a vessel for the Weapon which causes him to transform into the Ultima/Omega art we have?

I like this idea. It appears evident from the last quest that Darnus is not serving the Emperor, but someone else and, although I've yet to check the dialogues again, I think he really referred to Dalamud as a He, so I wonder if there's actually someone, or something, alive (or dormant) in there...

The cut scenes and stuff doesn't prove anything that he can transform into Ultima Weapon but, I'll keep an open mind. He seems more like a Sephiroth than anything else to me..Then again Sephiroth did have many transformations.

I don't know about this, it's a really spot on theory though.
Perhaps The 1.23 patch will introduce the fight against Nael Van Darnus, the dream foreshadows him killing your character after all.

Perhaps Ultima/Omega is intended to carry on the plot within 2.0 perhaps.
